Ok at the convincing of others I decided to install a new browser and chose Opera. Now I just have 1 question which is can I import my cookies and history from IE into Opera? I have a crap load of things in my cookies in IE like videos etc that I don't really want to download again, so any help will be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure this thread doesn't belong anywhere, but if it does could the mods please move it and not lock it, but feel free to lock it when my questions are answered.

Thanks.

EDIT: Oh and why can't I preview what's said in threads, instead of hte first few lines it just displays a link.

So you listened to that ****ing retard and got Opera?

Get Firefox instead.. what kind of gay *** name is Opera anyway.

Get the 'Fasterfox' and 'Adblock' extensions as well.. they're pretty sweet/useful. No more pesky ads at the top of pages.

Firefox worked well until about a week ago, when it started crashing continuously. I just got Opera instead. It works pretty good, but Firefox was better.

I just downloaded Firetune, is that similar to Fasterfox? I'll look for the Adblock now.

Opera was ok but it was gettin annoying and I prefer IE. Although I only used it for 10 minutes.

Oooo kickass, I can import everything from IE. Now to install this Firetune. Hey Zakath, or anyone, where did you get Adblock? Any site inparticular or just google it?

Found a lot of add-ons at https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/showlist.php?application=firefox&numpg=10&category=Popular

I have no ****in idea what 'Firetune' is but it wasn't what I was talking about. Are people too retarded to just simply google things before asking people to spoonfeed them the answers? Here ya go sonny boy, the first google result for both searches gave me these

I found them already, but thanks for searching :thumb:

There's a crap load on that site I posted ^^

Be aware though, FasterFox, depending on how you have it set up, caches the pages, and preloads them. I don't see how that could be a concern to anyone, but just putting it out there.

By the way, I used it and AdBlock. That = Magic.

I tried using Opera a while ago, and it was ****. I'll stick with Firefox.

I just realised that the ad that's usually annoying me on here is gone. All I'd ever here was "DO SOMETHING" ..... "WHAT" over and over.

WTF is Fasterfox?
A plugin that increases the number of connections you open to a website among other things.

If you turn it up enough it starts to slow down smaller web servers though.

Firefox also does the thing with short thread previews, theres an extension to stop it called long titles:

Here. (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Top%20Rated&numpg=10&id=1715)

Bottom right hand corner - there will be a little timer for each page that loads.

Firefox is overrated

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html

Opera seems to be better, but still who really cares? Its a web browser, its not like one of them has style over the other or some ****e the reality in they are both nerdy exercises in coding.

123, it doesn't work here either. What do I have to install or change? I installed the latest flash then but it still doesn't work.

Have you tried manually installing it instead of just clicking the 'install plugin' link that Firefox gives you when it can't open something? I was having some problems with viewing quicktime movies in firefox until I just went to quicktime.com and downloaded it myself.

Yeah I downloaded the thing and installed it myself.

Well after just trying it then it works. I think I just needed to restart Firefox.

I like this browser, especially how each tab is inside the one window, instead of having hundreds of IE's on the Taskbar. It also seems faster.

Firefox is a pathetic web browser. Opera crushes it majorly, as seen in the link above.. You have to learn how to configure Opera to use it at its maximum potential.

Opera>>>>>>Firefox

Seeing as you're such an opera god, is there an equivalent to entering a link in firefox and pressing ctrl-enter to add the http://www. and .com, or shift-enter for .net and ctrl-shift-enter for .org?

Yeah and that link there is a reliable source? No. Most of the others there even disagree with that post.

Secondly: I want my browser to be awesome right out of the box, not after sitting there configuring it for half an our first.

Even if everything in that link were true: Why would I care?

Myth - "Firefox and Mozilla are the same"
Reality - Firefox started as "Phoenix", an experimental branch of the web browser component of the Mozilla Suite in 2002. It officially became known as Mozilla Firefox in 2004. The name "Mozilla" in this case refers to the Mozilla Foundation/Corporation which develops Firefox and developed the Mozilla Suite. Official development of the Mozilla Suite ended in 2005 but continues as a community-developed product known as SeaMonkey. - Source

Wow, I really care about this because it makes a difference!

Myth - "Firefox has lower System Requirements than Internet Explorer" - Example

Reality - Internet Explorer 6.x has much lower minimum System Requirements than Firefox 1.x.

Hey, I have news for you: 32mb of ram is nothing of a difference

Besides, mozilla has ever said this, and everybody and their dog can run FireFox on their computer either way.

Myth - "Firefox is the Fastest Web Browser" - Example

Reality - Opera (now 100% free) is the fastest Graphical Web Browser in Windows. - Source

Well that's just opinion and based upon individual sites/systems, but notice how Opera is only now 100% free, wheras FireFox has never been proprietary code or even incorporated ads for that matter.

Myth - "Firefox Achieved 150 million downloads (2-2006)" - Example

Reality - "Oops. We recently introduced a bug into the counter and it's being fixed. We're not quite there yet. Sorry for the confusion. We accidentally counted the 20 million people who updated from Firefox 1.5 to Firefox 1.5.0.1 this week." - Source - Source 2

Yes: popular opinion makes me choose my browser, that's why I don't use IE!

Market share stuff
Don't care

Myth - "Firefox is Secure" - Example

Reality - Firefox is anything but Secure with multiple unpatched vulnerabilities allowing exposure of sensitive data to local users. You only need one vulnerability to be insecure. Since Firefox v1.x was released, users have been exposed to 72 security vulnerabilities and counting, 39 of which are rated as Highly Critical and 1 Extremely Critical. - Source
There's no such thing as unpatched code, and the only reason Opera has 0 unpatched vulns is because the company behind it don't tell their customers about major bugs.

Myth - "Firefox is More Secure because it is not integrated into the OS" - ExampleHaha, I'm not even going to argue this - because nobody has said this, at all.

Myth - "Firefox Extensions are Safe" - Example

Reality - Firefox Extensions can be very unsafe. A vulnerability in older versions of the Greasemonkey Extension can be exploited by malicious people to disclose sensitive information. - SourceExtensions are not made by mozilla, so this has no bearing on anything really.

Any old chump can go write a crappy extension.

Anyway, I'm not going to go on, but that article is ****ing retarded.

Ok, only 1 more question...

How do you make stop the mousewheel click button opening a link when you click on it. I click on the mousewheel button all the time for fast scrolling and most of time scroll onto a link, mousewheel click to turn the scroll off, and it opens the link in a new tab. Which is annoying.

I've gone through all the options but there's nothing on it.

EDIT: And why is Mx the only place is doesn't remember my password and sign me out each time I close the window. That's window not tab.

EDIT 2: And how do I view the temporary downloaded files? I can view cookies but not them.

EDIT 3: I'll use the help section, and I just learned it's 'cache' not temp files.

EDIT 4: Well that was no help. Can I even view my cache?

Well you can set how you want the link to open in the Tab settings. Plus there's an extension for even more advanced tab settings.. I forget what it's called though.

Do you click 'Remember Me?'

it could be something to do with firefox recognising http://musicianforums.com and http://www.musicianforums.com as 2 different domains I guess
