Ok so I'm eating lunch with my friends, talking about music and what instruments we play. So then my friend tells me that he just bought a 5 piece Cb drum set and keeps tellin me how awesome it is. He can't stop talkin to me about it.
Seeing how exited he was about them and the reviews i heard about cb, i think ther ok cuz my friend invited me over and let them try it out while he plays his keyboard.
What do u guys think?

I have a CB set. It's not great by any stretch, it's a bitch to tune, and the hardware completely sucks, but if you can upgrade them enough, they're not bad.
Having said that, I don't think this guy knows what he's talking about if he says CB drums are awesome.

If you didnt notice, they where kidding.
I had like some POS cbish type thing as my first set, I dont even consider it a real set. Just a toy lookalike.

CB drums are befinner level drums at best. Sorry to your friend. However, he has a new drumset, so maybe he should be excited.

What is the point of this thread?
He's a noobie drummer, of course he's excited about his new drumset.
Frick.
I remember kissing my first set goodnight the night I got it.

I have a Cb drums... I got it for $100 with cymbals/stands. With new heads they don't sound too horrible.

It really just teaches gear, not as much technique because the only way to get htat is to play.

thats crap, thats totally not true, you know what to look out for here. people bring it up all the time. gear is the main thing. but there are alot of threads on technique and injuries and positioning.

Thats what I tell my friends/newbie drummers when they say Travis Barker is the fastest drummer ever, And Pearl exports are "teh shiz".

I have a story for you all...
Keep in mind this is completely true and is not exaggerated in the least...
I know a guy who plays drums. Everyone said he was awesome and i was like ok, maybe i can learn from this guy!...sweet!
So i ask him what kinda stuff he has...he says...ohh i got a pearl set and zildjian cymbals (this was a few years back so i didnt know anything about drums) and i was like ok sweet!
I go to his house...pearl export, ZBT cymbals...wow...okay...
So a few weeks later i found out this guy went to the local music store and argued for TWO HOURS over why they should carry pearl...it was so stupid...
In short...the guy is a total barker fanboy...wears famous stars and straps all the time...his hi-hats are literally almost even with his head...
So one day i go into the library and i hear a bunch of noise...more then usual...figures...the guy is listening to slipknot!...he's like "dude come here i found the best band ever! The drummer is so awesome!"...and i was just like "oh boy here we go again"...
I dont feel like explaining the rest...i dunno the point of this either...probly cuz of the barker and export post above mine...

OUch, I ahte those ppl, and yeah, I mean yeah its normal for a n0ob to think there beginners kit is God. I remember, the first week ro so when i got my new drums (NETWORK) I thought they were soooo good, now i use one of the drums as a bass drum in my practice kit, Yesterday, I took off the head to check out the bearing edge. Its on a 78o Angle, I am not kidding about that, and its not even equal the whole way around, I love it lol.

I have a story similar. Theres three good percussionists in our class ( we have like 7 ). So one day one of the kids brings Rush 30th Anniversary signature sticks. And the other percussionists is like Rush 30th Anniversary signature sticks, That's so gay.
And than I was like, You have Weckl and Gadd signature sticks.
And he's like Yeah, Weckl and Gadd are better than Peart.
About this time I was absolutely annoyed with this kid, He's not a travis fanboy but I wanna kill him as if he is.
So I respond.. Have you ever heard Gadd or Weckl play in a band scenario?
Him: "UHHH... no"
Me: "Than how do you know their better"
Him: "Dude, I watch their clinics on drummerworld all the time and they are so better than Peart".
I'm not trying to argue whose better or worse, they each bring their own style. But him arguing with a kid ( who just started this year and is rather good ) about bringing rush signature sticks was very stupid. Than he says Weckl and Gadd are better than Peart because of the clinics on drummerworld. I don't think he knows who they play for, any of them. It's so chaotic and stupid my school is.

I have CB drums, they serve their purpose as beginner drums, and that's it. Put a bit of money into it and you can end with a fairly good kit :)
cb is the equivalent of a basa finished product.

CB's are (in my opinion) one of the better beginner kits around. Ok the hardware isn't fantastic, but it does the job, and isn't terrible. The bearing edges on mine again aren't great but they aren't as bad as some.
Compared to something like the Peavey Int. series II, CB's are much better. (One of my friends owns one, and we re-finished our kits together. The quality of wood on a CB is much better than the Peavey. The hardware from CB is much better than Peavey. And don't get me started on the edges. It seems as if Peavey had terribley cut snare beds on all of the drums.
If you can tune drums well, then the CB isn't too bad as beginner kits go. Far better value than Pearl Forums, better build quality than Peavey and Westbury.

That AAX will be your best piece of equipment so far. Id recommend slowly buying every AAX cymbal and replacing your ZBT's.
Youll thank me later. :smoke:

I ahve a cb, ive been playing for like 2 years, yea, it kinda sucks, but i think its good for the price. I still have the stock hi-hat stand though, this is KILLING me slowly lol. I just dont have the money to replace it right now.
ooh well, i got pretty good cymbals (AAX stage pack, got it used for 300 bucks a year back) and got a diff pedal and new batters on it. It sounds ok i guess...

I have a CB kit. I use one of the hi-hat cymbals by itself as one of my cymbals. It on a really bad DIY cymbal stand so if it breaks then its no big deal. I kind of like the sound it makes.

i have a cb set, i find them really good for beginner drums, but yeah, the hardware is pretty sh!tty and the cymbals are paper thin, ive broken every cb cymbal, the pedal, the hihat, and somehow the snare muffler. but the the actual drums themselves i think are pretty good, and with a bit of upgrading on hardware and cymbals they suite me just fine.
oh and heads, definitely destroyed and replaced the heads

if they are fairly new, the wrap (and grommets) should be easy to remove. refinish time! CBs are soo dead, so amb/amb for your friend!
