Ok, so Ive been wanting to record myself playing because its easier to see if im out of time, but i havnt been able to get the recording equipment for a while, hopefully soon. Anyways just wondering I only practise rudiments with a metronome not actual kit stuff but whatever I learn on the kit I always play along to a CD through my headphones. If its a band or a CD from a method book. Is this just as good as a metronome?

I listen to a band play through my headphones to, or i just play a CD on the radio.
But i have to turn it up really loud, becuase if I don't i play louder then the radio or headphones and I tend to be quicker then the actual music being played. So I would go with a metronome :thumb:
But of course thats just me... My experience won't happen to everyone here.

Depends.
If it's a drum machine playing, then yes. Otherwise, nope.
Not at all. Not even remotely close.

there is no replacement for playing on a real kit.
