Also, don't think you're all high and mighty for not using tabs.

I use tabs. I also write my own tabs.

Big whoops if I use tabs. If I take the time, I can figure out what's being done in a song, but if I really have the urge to just go and play something (happens a fair bit, actually), it's much easier to just print off a tab than figure it out on my own.

I personally don't like tabs,but I don't have a problem with them.
They were made by a musician using his/her ear.
So it's all good.Have fun with the tabs guys. :chug:

: ( i use it too, i dont care what anyone says i'm not going to tab out every song I want to play, I dont have that much time, though I do tab songs that I really have a desire to play and cant find a decent tab.

Hahahaha I could just imagine how a7x's fills and rolls would look in tab form. *shudders*

crazyguy832
02-24-2006, 06:35 PM
Cause you don't learn to use your ear.

Damnit, I just do both. Tabs when I'm at my computer, my ear everywhere else (which is 3/4 of the time).

Tabs should be used to augment your ear, not to replace it. I almost never use tabs for drums, but they've been useful on occasion for guitar.

So what was the case that let tabs get back on the net legally?

At any rate, it's good news. Whether you like them or not - Personally, I don't have a use for drum tabs, but when I doodle around on my guitar they are a life saver.

ya if you looked like 3 lines down and read the rest of my post you would find out I was being sarcastic, i said i use tabs off that site too

Actually, yeah, it is.

The only kick I'd ever consider doing in a fight would either be a knee to the side/face (if I'm holding his head) or a shin to the side of the leg.

Also, don't think you're all high and mighty for not using tabs.

well, i hope that wasnt for me (i dont think it was). but just to be clear i prefer playing by ear or sheet music when it comes to drums. i do turn to tabs when i need help playing a fill and i have nothing against tabs. tabs are just a different way of reading music, nothing wrong with them.

crazyguy832

No, I refer to D&P in general. Everyone seems to look down on people who use tabs.

yeah, that's cause tabs are retarded.
People could just learn to notate properly instead of this crappy version of notation that makes almost no sense.

If you transcribe a lick, put it on staff paper. Just a little easier that having to type it out.

crazyguy832
02-24-2006, 07:11 PM
My writing skills = hand cramps up after 2 minutes

Typing skills = 96 wpm after mistakes for 3 minutes

What is the better option?

In general, though, yeah, staff paper is easier.

Wait... no, it isn't, I like tabs more. I can visualize the beats MUCH easier with tabs. It's easier for me. Although, I recognize that sheet music is quite good (and I got no problems sight-reading it).
