yeah ive been playing open handed for a little over a year (thats how i taught myself and ive only been playing that long) when i was fooling around with my kit yesterday i moved my ride to the right side of the bass drum (it used to be on my left). that got me to thinkn...are there any excersises i could do to increase strength in my right hand so i can keep time when i play hi hats and ride with my right , like most other drummers?

Open/crossed
Trust me...
And, well, yeah, just lead with your right to get used to it. I can lead okay with both hands, but I'm a bit stronger with my left. But I'd rather just be able to move my main ride over and lead fully with my left (the way my room is, that's impossible, though).
Being able to lead with either hand opens up so many possibilities, along with increasing your overall control and facility on the drumset. On a right handed kit I would highly recommend playing left hand on hat and right hand on ride, its just so practical once you get it down pat.
