Hey guys and girls,

My computer won't let me watch .avi files on WMP and I'd like to be able to, so is there any free way I can download a plug-in or somthing to be able to watch them? Any help would be very appreciated.

the codec should extend to all media players on your PC though

ok i went with divx and ims etting it up.... its giving me the choice to check or uncheck these 3 things:

DivX codec
Divx player
Divx web player, do i need all of them to watch .avi's?

you should only need the codec, but i have the player on there just as a backup

ok, i have everything downloaded, and i'm downloading an epi. of lost off limewire, and when i tried to preview it, it still says it cant fint the codecs. is there somthini i have to do to like set it up?

You could have just used the first post and use VLC player, it plays anything and everything.

No, VLC is a media player, it plays the files for you. Don't use WMP for videos as there are to many problems with codecs and crap.

vlc is a whole other video player. but it plays everything without codecs

my WMP will only play the Audio from DVD's...no Video

Well download VLC player, it plays DVDs as well, from any region.

is there a way i can set vlc to play avi's without having to make it my default player so when i try to preview them on lime wire it actually previews them?

With download managers, they only use the one media player that is selected by that download manager to play files, so it's one or the other. When I use Emule and need to preview an AVI, I go into the options and change the media player from WMP>VLC.

see thats why i wanted the codec for wmp

o well thanks, but seriosly if anyone knows how i can get the codec to work for wmp 10 just for .avi's, I'd really like to knowwwww
