Any other fans?
They've grown over the months to be one of my favorite bands, and seems to be good for what my taste is aiming for; some songs are purely guitar driven, some soft and has the piano as the foundation, and a little of both in some songs. They're catchy, risk-taking, and their signature sound could be a cornerstone for modern alternative.
So yeah ITT discuss Muse
Sunburn is one of my favorite songs.
Which albums do you have?
Kurtz

Absolution and Origin of Symmetry.
Showbiz worth getting?

their music is pretty cool.. I though sometimes grow quite bored of it because it sounds really digital and I hate when things are digital..
good music to listen to at home but not car music.. could distract you if you think about all the instruments used in each song and how it harmonizes perfectly and if not thinking about them you're not listening :D

I like them. They do a good live show. Most of their albums are half worthless songs and half good songs. My favourite song of their's is "Muscle Museum". It's phenomenal live. "Citizen Erased" is good too.

I'm not a particular big fan of them, tried to get into OoS a while ago but just couldn't. Plug in Baby is extremely catchy, though.

Muse are one of my favourite bands. It's ridiculous that they aren't just given best live act at the brits every year. Original, creative and catchy. A hard formula to find.

I own all of their albums and can say there all pretty good. I don't reall understand peoples criticisms of Absolutio, sure its not as good as Origin but still a good album none the less. Hopefully a new album will be out this spring.

Absolution is my favourite cd out of them. I have all their studio albums, but didn't bother with the live ones.
I'm a fan, but I find they get a 'theme' for their cds and most of the songs are pretty similar, or at least related. But, seeing as I like the songs, that's not a bad thing.
is their new album out in April or have they given any more news? They seem pretty detatched from their fanbase.

I have all their albums, and they're all awesome. I don't know which one I like most, I've gone through phases of liking all most.
They are brilliant live, yes.

I never thought the songwriting in Absolution was up to par with their previous two albums, however recently the album's grown on me more. As I'm primarily a bass player, I can't help but love "Hysteria". Muse definetly has some of the best instrumental players in rock right now.

Same for me, you've gotta applaude the work put into New Born as well.

I'm not sure why everyone raves about Origin of Symmetry. The first two songs are amazing but then the album goes downhill. I think Absolution is my favorite album by them. "Ruled by Secrecy" is their best I think.

New album 15th May.
I confess to being a Muse fanboy. I have everything of theirs, b-sides, DVD's, bootlegs, live vids, etc.
I just find their music really satisfying to listen to at any time.
+ They really are incredible live, especially songs like Ruled By Secrecy, Newborn, Apocalypse Please, Citizen Erased and Stockholm Syndrome.
ALl of them are great musicians too, Chris Wolstenholme is a fantastic bassist like Kurtz said.

Muse is always fun to listen to and always fun to see live. My favorite cd is Origin of Symmetry.
I don't know, I go through phases with them. I think they are a good live band, but their new album really failed to impress me. Origin of Symmetry was good back in the day, but havn't listened to it in a while,...I should really dig it out.
Hypermusic is easilly my favorite song of theirs, it's class.

Yes, there's another one in there.
These guys are one of my favorite bands, Bellamy has to be my favorite musician of all time. His piano playing is out of this world, mostly because it fills in so well with the music (Butterflies and Hurricanes). Chris and Dom are really good musicians too. Dom has a very simple, yet effective approach to drumming. Showbiz has some songs i can't really stand such as Fillip, and Uno. Although songs such as Unintended and Showbiz are simply amazing.
Origin of Symmetry has to be my favorite album by them, such a hard hitting album. Melegomania also reminds me of Ruled by Secrecy, Absolution is a more progressive sound for Muse. As far as the new album, I haven't heard any details. Just rumors of a April/May release, should be a good one.

The new album will be release in May, I heard.
It's supposed to be upbeat and optimistic, e.g. the opposite of Absolution.

I tried to pick up Absolution today but the copy they had at the store I was at cost $27.00... so I just got a Smashing Pumpkins cd instead.
RollerQueen
02-25-2006, 10:54 PM
That's hella expensive for any single CD.
They do a decent cover of "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" or whatever. Their cover of The Smiths' "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" is alright, but his vocals are too snotty for the song.

They've been posting updates on the progress every so often on their messagebaoard and it's going to be a much less commercial album than Absolution. Going back to a more upbeat rock sound rather than the classical feel to Absolution.
There are bootlegs of the new songs played in America last year floating around, try http://www.muselive.com if you're interested.

Absolution ----> my favorite CD to date and I listened to many. I whore it every now and then.
Just got Live At Glastonbury 2004, oh my what a gig. For the piano players out there I was wondering how hard it is to play space dementia and sing at the same time? It seems very impressive.

I've kinda gone off Matt Bellamy's piano playing/style, IMO it just feels like he tries too hard to be melodramatic and wanks over arpeggios for too long half the time...they are all great musicians tho, I much prefer the guitar led songs, ie. when "Muscle museum" is played live, Matt's rhythm guitar part are very subtle and clever.

True.
I love the bit in Muscle Museum at 3:17, when he starts to sing, but the guitar solo just starts and it sounds like he's doing the solo with his voice for the first few seconds. That bit is amazing.

Supposedly he forgot his guitar solo on one of the tracks on showbiz and sung a vocal solo into his pickups. That's meant to be when he started doing the whole distorted vocal thing.

I still dislike people who's only reason for hating Time is Running Out is the popularity of it. It garnered so many new fans, and I know a lot of people started to dislike them as Muse got more and more popular. I don't give two ****s about their popularity, Time is Running Out is an amazing song. People won't give it a chance.
It's an amazing song, through and through. Sing for Absolution has some of the most powerful vocals ever, and the ending vocals are insane.
