they're phenomenal, aren't they? by far they have taken the top slot as my favorite band.
i've heard some of the new **** they're working on in a video at sonicyouth.com and it's great.
Time to get it before you let it get to you. *guitar business*

I listened to Daydream Nation just last night. Wonderful band.
I've noticed that Sonic Youth's audience has become polarized; either you're constantly on Thurston's dick, or you're always talking about how boring and mediocre they are. It's entertaining.
I've noticed that you're an elitist ****, and since you're so interested in guys' dicks, go suck one.

I'm a big fan of them, got into them through VU somehow. I own Daydream, Goo, Evol and Dirty, planning to get Sister as soon as possibly since it's (joined by Evol) my favorite record. I haven't listened that much to their other CD's but Experimental Jet Set, Trash & No Star was pretty decent. Androgynous Mind is probably one of my favorite SY tracks ever.

I only own Daydream Nation, but I like it.
What should I get next?

Get Evol, their best album. Sonic Youth in the 80s = some of my favorite music.

a lot of sonic youth fans are elitist morons.
i've seen them live twice.
you know what i hate? and this makes the elitists almost not bother me (almost): the people who claim to be totally into them and all they own is goo or washing machine.

I always thought that they were overated, yet good nonetheless. 'Daydream Nation' used to be a bore, but now I'm getting into it and it's becoming one of my favorite albums as of now.

i want to know how people can find them to be boring. at all.
all the crunch and feedback and gtr noise is very um. exiting. except in The Sprawl it kind of drags onnnn and on. but i listen to the album (daydream nation) all the way throuhg every time. and i have so much ****ing sonic youth vinyl.
PS, goo is very good. i'm not denouncing goo. i like listening to it jumping on the bed.

The Sprawl is my second favorite song on Daydream Nation. I love the last 3 minutes.
Everything up until Daydream Nation was gold. As for Goo, it is a good album, i love all the songs up to Mote (which is best on the album btw), after that it's not as good.
Sonic Nurse, Murray Street and Washing MAchine are great albums too. The Diamond Sea is a special song, and Sonic Youth are a special band, at least for me.

I haven't really discovered them yet, but I did see them on PBS once and I liked it.

I find them sort of boring because it is hard for me to get into the music. 'The Sprawl' and 'Hyperstation' are extremely dull and some of the songs are just way to long. Daydream Nation has some excellent songs but I can't get into the noisy, guitar influenced parts of the album.
Oh Yeah, Teen Age Riot is one of the best songs ever.

I picked up evol a while ago. Then I got sonic nurse from my friend. They're way different but I'm really into them.
They're a way cool band. I have Bad Moon Rising, EVOL, and Daydream Nation. I guess I'll get Sister at some point.

Nurse is quite a bit more mellow. I didn't mean to say it's not good, because it is good, but there are a lot more of their albums that I would rather listen to. I have Nurse on vinyl, though.

I swear some of the grooves / noise breakdowns on Daydream Nation make me dizzy with their plain awesomeness.

I really want to get into them, 1 of my favourite bands ...and you will know us by the trail of dead are heavily influenced by them and i was wondering which sonic youth album sounds the most from the Madonna era?
I appreciate them and like them. This is why I'm going to see them when they play at bonnaroo.

i'd say Goo.
very electro-poppy-punky-noisy-whatever. their most "fun" album, i'd say.
