Thats more of a bass thing than an amp thing. Bigger strings equate to more output (more mass affects the magnetic field of the pup more, which means more output). To relieve this, Id recommend lowering the bass side of the pickup (tighten the screws on the E/A string side).

As for compression, its all up to you. More compression sounds like more compression, so it depends on what you want it to sound like. Screw around with it.

dead on.^

also check ur action i should be realtivly even across all the strings. but more thn likely u just need to lower ur pup on the bass side. it should slant upward to the treble side

hmm.. yeah, they answered your e-string question,

and being a hartke amp owner myself, i like sort of a trebley, high end sound with my compression all the way up, it's a nice strong, punching sound when playing chords with a pick (yay for bass chords!!!) yeah... and question for you!
does your compression knob go to infinity? cause on mine, it has 1-9 then instead of a 10, it has the sideways 8, or the sign for infinity... i'm just wondering... haha cause i was like on the floor laughing when i saw it

Compression is probably good on 4-5... Too much and it kills your tone. Just enough to level out your sound and to make sure you don't blow your speakers. It happened to a break of mine. The string slapped down and hit a pole or something and froze all 4 of his speakers. Everything but the tweeter. He learned a lesson that day.

It was also because his master was too high and the pre amps were too low.

u cant adjust action with a phillips, u need an alan key(hex) u adjust intonation with a philips.

i was talkin about raising/lowering the pickups...his problem doesnt sound like a problem that would come from action since action is uniform across each fret

But not each string. Pickup height could be a problem, as well as action.

had this problem before, just adjust the pick up height until you get a balanced and good tone. (yep, pick up height affects the tone)

Ahh thank God for a modified TKO115 with automatic (self levelling), built-in compression. I always punch and I never suck. Rock on me!

Well, mine goes to 11.

Why not just have it go to 10, but have the 10 be as loud as 11?

yea i hate that... i've got a hartke kickback 12, and even with the low turned all the way down, you can still notice the E above the other strings... ill try lowering the pickups though
