BOYCOTT TICKETMASTER!
anyways, i have to go see at least two jazz shows this semester for a class, so a me and my friend (we both play bass) got tickets to see victor wooten on march 3rd. i've never really heard a full song by victor wooten (with the exceptions of "overjoyed" and "classical thump"), but i've heard an insane amount of recordings on these forums of his stuff, i've seen his videos, and i'm so awed at his thumbing/slapping technique that i'm going to see him.
so, to give this poing a thread, for all you people that have seen him live before, post some reviews or comments about his shows . . .
EDIT: i didn't see the other thread, and was shocked that there even was another thread about this . . .

The $62.50 is more than worth it, man. I was in your exact same position as far as what I'd heard of him, and trust me this is one of the best shows you're ever going to see.
62 bucks for one ticket? that blows.
anyways...my two cents...
he definitely puts on a good show, and it's incredible to just actually see him in real life. although...i got bored several times. i find the majority of his music, (especially Soul Circus), to be pretty damn cheesy.

You'll find his live set is nothing like his solo recordings. It's 1000x better. So much crazy energy and grooving going on. What might sound cheesy on albums like Soul Circus, the Victor Wooten Band absolutely rocks (and funks, and blueses, and jazzes) on stage.

I'm going to see Bella Fleck play, and as much as I love Bella's playing and all the other musicians, Wooten's going to be my focus. Tickets, three of them, cost $125 total, for center house. Sunuvabitch.

Tickets to see RHCP over here are going for £45 standard apparently, so $90 for you American lot.
Good job they're bland otherwise i might have liked them enough to pay that :amaze:

are you sure it's just wooten? my bela fleck tickets cost that much, but every time i've seen wooten they were no more than $20, and one time he was even playing for free around here

62$ per ticket, or for both? They're like 27$ for that show, so you definately overpayed if you just bought 1 ticket. :-\

Cheesey? Try... elevator music UP THE ***!
I swear... every time I close my eyes and listen to Soul Circus, I feel myself ascending to a different floor.
This is why I consider Victor to be the greatest player, but not my favorite by any means.

My name's not Tyler.

Is the all star band the one with the one boring yet talented female singer, and the terrible rapper chick?
