Ok, so i was really bored today and was working on this little project i thought of. I had these hihats that were so bent up they were literally useless. So what i decided to do was to some how saw it down into a splash size. So yea, i took this saw, and a hammer to help bend some of the excess cymbal stuff, and i got this little china-splash.

So yea, ur like wow, this kid is cheap, but thats not all! I decided why not find a way to mount it and my china even though i dont have a stand for it. So i took this music stand, a broken stick, and duct tape and went to work, and this is what i ended up with.

Im proud to present to you my little effects stand:

hmm, it doesnt sound GREAT, but like it sounds ok when im playing with stuff, both have extremely short sustain because they are very thin and they are just really trashy. The bigger one is 16" and the smaller one is just a bit under 10"

Heres a little recording of the sound, keep in mind i used my cell phone to record this, so it soudns a little better than this:

The larger one sounds kinda different than it does on the recording, but it gives you an idea

Very nice idea.

I have a pair of old DX 14" hats that I've been thinking of mucking around with.

Either that, or mount them upside down, fill them with gas, and light them on fire...

That would be cool.

yea, i still have another 14" hihat left, i dont know what i will do with that, i could put a hammer to the middle of it and make it more china shaped, but i already have the 16" and the 10", so il just let it sit for now.

Or... i could cut that down to 10" and make mini-trash hats, i dunno.

Kit looks nice, I can never get my brothers CB tom angles 'normal', so I just use it as a 4 piece. Cymbal looks cool too, I love short-sustain effects cymbals.

Trust me, you DONT want them...
Theyre the CB ones that came with my set, sounded like crap. They were really thin and got all bent up like crazy, so thats why i had the idea of cutting them, because the outside was so messed up.

Thnx for all the replies for the rest of ya
