I have £60 burning a hole in my pocket at the moment and i have a 10" splash and a 16" crash just laying in my room standless. So i have already decided what i am going to do about the splash, i am goin to get the gibralter cymbal holder, a knurled arm and clamp for £19.99! i dont think i can go wrong there.
But i am pretty stuck for what to get for the crash i was hoping for a knurled boom stand, double braced and three sections (excluding boom arm). I was originally looking at the PDP 800 series stand but that has only got 2 sections, but id like more adjustability, and i cant find anywhere that sells the PDP 900 anywhere in the UK.
Please help with suggestions for my stand of around the £40 mark. much appreciated.
Thanks guys

i picked up an 800series boom at Guitar Center yesterday during a sale, for $30 (not that, that concerns you or anything) and I think it is spectacular...The one section is actually quite long, but the boom is a little on the shorter side...That's the negative thing about it.

I started out with the Pacific 800 series boom stands on my intermediate kit. When I upgraded my kit and cymbals I switched to the DW 5000 series. That is some quality hardware right there!!

However, if you are going to gig, use a single stand to hold 4 or more items, or just flat out want the best, get the DW 9000 series stuff. Looks great, its solid, and has features you can really use and come to love. I'll never regret switching all my stands to the 9000 series.

DW 5700 or 5700L

Usually $80 to $85 and solid as a rock.

TAMA RoadPros suck, unless youre using small cymbals and keeping them very low.

but than again, you dont have much money either.

Some guy just sold me a 9700 for 59 bucks including shipping. He advertised it as a 5700L and I asked him (he had a pic of a 5700L stock and his own photo was a 9700) could he sell me the one with the black handle and he said yes. Score!

Thats insane man!

Make sure its a 9700 though! Does it have the really thick tube base and the hinged memory locks? Memory locks on the boom arm as well as the infinite tilter?

If so that is incredable! The DW9700 by far is the most spectaculalr boom stand you can buy. The Axis booms look interesting, but I have no idea how they would hold up.

Yup, everything included, including those obscenely large memory locks and that tilter I adore so much. He may have lost the little tech lock from the looks of it..a quarter at most :p

I'd have to say though, if the first boom on the pearl bc2000 was gnurled, it would have the 9700 pwned. Double boom!

the older TAMA Titan stands are very good, and the Stilt stands are awesome :thumb:

those stands are huge compared to a RoadPro.

^yea, i definatly feel like the older tama stuff is better. i had a few older ludwig like mega boom stands, i think it might have been a telescope stand or what ever the **** boom stands with like an extra piece for lenght are called, but the thing was a ****ing monster. but for cheap boom stands i would defiantly check out the Pasific 800 series, i got an 800 series boom stand for xmas, it cost like 35 bucks and i'm lovin it, the arm is a little short for me personally, but it is a good stand

Yeah, those seem pretty sweet. I personally don't see the need for MASSUVE stands, but heavier weight is good, definitely.
