Hey all,
I wanna run a Hartke HA2000 into a VX410 (as I do), but want the addition of a VX215, However, problem is, the 2x15 is 4ohm, and the 4x10 is 8ohm. The head runs at 120W at 8ohm and 200W at 4ohm.
If I were to run the two cabs together, I'd bugger it up supposedly. Is there any way I can run them both? Or will I just have to run them seperately?
Thanks in advance -
Will :smash:

you could remove the leads off of one of the 15s, that would make it an 8 ohm.
or run the 2 15s in series, making it 16.

If you don't know how to rewire some cabs I would advise againts doing it. But if you do then follow what jonly said.

No idea on that, the guy at my local might be able to?
16 + 4 = ??ohms

16 + 8 = some were around 6.xxx I think.
/to lazy to do the math.

I heard of something like a SpeakerBuddy or something, anyone know about this?

leaving them as they are would yield an impedance load of 2.67 ohms, which I doubt your head could handle. Can't you just buy an 8 ohm version of the 215?

Yeah, I checked the Hartke/Samson website and there isnt one.
What about the SpeakerMate?

^^^Honestly, that product sounds very much like nothing more than a gimmick. I can't say for sure as I've never used one, but it seems to me you'd simply be asking for trouble.
The fact of the matter is that you'd be asking too much from your amp in a situation like that. Using a low-wattage head to drive a bunch of cabs would easily result in insufficient wattage hitting the cabs. Not that this would be dangerous, its just that cabs need a certain amount of wattage to operate at their peak, and this simply would not yield the desired result. It would likely be fine with a large power amp, but with a small amp like yours..... honestly...... forget it.

OK, so how about upgrading to a stereo head? Would that help?

just get a small poweramp, take the preamp out and have it go into the poweramp and run the added cab with it.

the problem there is that if you use these cabs with a stereo head you'll have one side running at 4 ohm, and one at 8 ohm. Ultimately your rig will be unbalanced because your volume potential on the 4 ohm side will be much greater (for 2 reasons actually, the increased PMPO wattage and the fact that a 2x15 has more surface area than a 4x10).
Simply put I think the issue is trying to use those two cabs together. A single 4 ohm enclosure, or two 8 ohm enclosures would definitely cause you less of a headache.

Yeah, I've given up on that.
And now to another extreme...

Would I be able to run this and a 4x10? It says it has 2 8ohm inputs

you could run the bottom and a 4x10, or the top and a 4x10, or both together without the4x10
