View Full Version : Jazz Tuba
I need some recordings of Jazz Tuba soloists. I know of Jim Self and thats it. Any suggestions. I mostly need jazz soloing too, not songs with a tuba in it like Stan Kentons Heres That Rainy Day. Thanks everyone.

Check out Bill Barber and Joe Murphy. There's a video somewhere of Barber playing Donna Lee.

Check out Howard Johnson. I saw him live a couple months ago. The performance was really weird, but he was amazing. Or I think he was amazing - I'd never heard any jazz tuba before to compare him to.

perhaps a buick?
David Bargeron played tuba for the jaco pastorius big band for a little bit. I don't know where he is now(or for that matter if he's even still alive), but I've got a jaco dvd with him on it and it's pretty impressive, he is the featured soloist in donna lee.

Way to encourage a fellow jazz musician.
I'm sure he appreciates your support.

You look like an Uruk-Hai giving birth to his own mother.
