Exactly.
Do some research. What kind of wood/finish/mounting system do you want? How many drums? What is your price range? Etc.

exactly! even if we say DW, theres no guarantee his price range isn't like 300 and he comes back to the forum bragging about his new PDP EZ by DW..

i was thinking about
dw collectors
gretsch renown/custom
pearl masters
sonor delight/or maby designers (probably delight)
yamaha custom/absolute maple
as i said earlier, dont include the price in your decision
i was looking for primarily maple (but dont rule out bubinga or other exotic woods ie curly maple, birdseye, zebrawood, etc, but i pretty much would not like to look at birch or walnut)
also, you can pretty much rule out mapex, as i already have a saturn at home(please dont get hung up on that fact, im just looking into other drums)
i was just looking for your opinion and WHY you chose them, so i can make a more informed decision myself

DW or Mapex would be good choices
edit: yea i posted same time as you before there
I'm saving myself for a DW collectors set in maple. DW is a good brand, i strust that it wont fall apart and sound really good. They're good quality sets.

i am looking for an apx. 6 piece set, 18x20, 8x10, 9x12, 11x14, 13x16 (i think i may very well change this when i decide on the drums)
i am goint to use these mostly for rock but probably will not always do studio work or live gigs with these
anything else please request

Hell yeah man, mine is a 4 piece, 18x22, 8x10, and 11x14, and eventually I will add a 9x12 and a 13x16! DWs are amazing and just to help, champagne sparkle is absolulty beautiful with chrome hardware!

dw would be my first choice but i was just wondering about my othe options, i didnt want to rule anything out
i know of a few studios that only like to use gretsch
i also know a few people who refuse to use anything but pearl and hate those who dont
and i know of some people and places, who prefer sonor delights over anything else one for example, a church a play at traded in a set of dws for sonor delights
and there are those who beleive that yamaha are some of the only quality drum companies around
but i was never given any spefics to why this was their decision except,"they're better"

DW then...you can costomize it anyway you like usually
if this were my only criteria, then wouldnt i just be better off with a custom company example;ayotte, maryland, conaway, etc., etc, etc...
even when there might be a company that already offers what a realy want

Its hard to say, at this level of drums its really about opinion. I just think DWs sound better, and look better.

for, i beleive the third time, dont worry about price, i have quite a bit of money and if it isnt enough for what i truly want that it should be worth saving for, and waiting for; but first i need to decide

i am a little more concerned with the sound aspect
EDIT: im nto trying to be mean or sarcastic, i know its a bit difficult to tell over the internet, just trying to be more informative
also, not that it dosent matter at all, i dont think i would truly be happy with a set of amazing sounding drums if they were the worlds ugliest

I figured, its just sorta an add on that DWs are beautiful! But the sound is unbelievable, its hard to say anything else.

jesus u already have saturns and u want another pro end kit...wow, someone here is seriously overcompensating. but anyway, i'd say got DW because i find they have a very good, very distinctive sound, or sonor delites because sonor makes excelent drums. the yammies are really good too. i'm not gonna comment on the gretch because i haven't tried it, and pearl masters are okay, but i like delites and DWs better, so with ur choices and ur price range i say go to ur drum store, jam on the sets, and decide for yourself, because with ur choices, ur really not gonna go wrong

DW's certainly got the look advantage, but you're going to go try all of these suggested, right? It's personal preference, high-end sets all have excellent features.

If price isn't a problem you cannot beat a DW. I played one and instantly fell in love. There are other kits which are really close to DW Quality but you can't get better than DW in my opinion. If you won't settle for anything less than the best go for DW. *This is only my opinion*

Why Taye? Ray Ayotte. Incredible sounding drums. Rock solid hardware + ACS mounting system for toms and cymbals.
