I thought this might be a somewhat original thread.

Post some interesting, strange, random or whatever facts about your music collection (not stuff you have downloaded).

Here I go.

The first cd in my collection is Mer De Noms by A Perfect Circle
The last cd in my collection is Mary Star of the Sea by Zwan
The first vinyl in my collection is Time Out by Dave Brubeck
The last vinyl in my collection is Relayer by Yes
The only cassettes I own are Reasonable Doubt by Jay-Z and The Fat of the Land by the Prodigy
I own 25 cds by bands starting with the letter 's'
The most albums I own by one artist is 7 Flaming Lips albums
The only Beatles album I own is Revolver
I own 3 Green Day cds. I have never listened any of them and I hate Green Day.
I have only ever bought second hand vinyls
I started my record collection approximately 3 years ago. I now own over 200 cds and over 30 vinyls.
The albums I started my record collection with were OK Computer by Radiohead and Room on Fire by The Strokes.
The first used cd I ever bought was Unplugged in New York by Nirvana
The only cd I have bought overseas since I started my collection was Blink 182's self titled album.

I'm sure I'll think of some more later. Post your own. I'd like to see some from people who have big collections.

Well you won't find anything interesting from me then. I only have about 40 albums, all on CD :(

The first CD I ever got was Dookie by Green Day. The last album I have received was Zen Arcade by Husker Du, which came in the mail sometime after Christmas (arriving late  ).

The oldest CD in my collection is a used one I got from a friend. It's the soundtrack to Weird Al Yankovic's movie UHF, which has some movie sound clips along with the standard mix of originals and parodies. It looks like it's an original printing from 1989, or maybe a little newer since it came in a jewel case instead of those carboard things.

The only CD I had that I ever sold was No Way Out by Puff Daddy, although I may have given away some CDs to my brother as well.

I have the first five Iron Maiden albums, and the second most from any band is Green Day, with four (Kerplunk - Nimrod). Unlike bread man, I don't hate Green Day. I've just outgrown them.

Fun thread, I would have to say this about my record collection:

-I've grown out of alot of the artists in my collection, but i still listen to them from time to time.
-Every cd case has some sort of crack on it, i'm horrible with dropping CD's or CD cases.
-There are about 10 CD's without there proper cases.
-The Deftones, Pantera, AFI, and Radiohead are my largest collection of albums from a band.
-Album i least listen to is Korn-Follow the Leader
-My most listened to album is Tool-Lateralus
-Favorite album in my collection at the moment is Dredg-Catch without Arms

More to come later..

The first CD I bought with my own allowance money was Weezer's Pinkerton. Unfortunately, that CD is no longer with us. It was lost in the great move of '02. I haven't bothered to replace it.

- I think I have about 100 CD's, but I have 200+ albums as mp3's
- I have 3 Linkin Park albums
- I own (in some form) every album by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead and Muse

-My most least listened album is Korn-Follow the Leadermost least, lol.

I have four Cd Racks in which I keep my collection
The most cd's I own by one band is 8, by the Smashing Pumpkins
I keep Led Zeppelin at the top of my main cd rack, because there is a double cd space for How The West Was Won
All albums by the same artist are kept together, and if I can in chronological order (I'm a nerd).
I have a pile of additional cd's on top of one of my racks.....I need a new rack.
I own 1 cassette, What's the Story Morning Glory
The first cd I bought was Postcards from heaven by the Lighthouse family
All the cd's that I don't listen too very often have cracked cases, because I swap them with albums that I do like

The case to Silent Alarm by Bloc Party is looking very battered indeed

- I own 20 records full of Mike Patton projects
- Albums I loaned to people but never returned to me:

The Mars Volta - De-Loused (don't miss it)
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique (miss it)
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats (miss it)
PJ Harvey - Is This Desire? (don't miss it anymore)
Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking (miss it)
DJ Shadow - Entroducing (miss it lots...one of my favorite records of all time)
Massive Attack - 100th Window (don't miss it)

- I keep the cd's seperated from the cases, which are stacked in a big closet to show off!!!
- My first record was by the KLF...they are still mitey cool I might add.
- I actually bought Zaireeka by the Flaming Lips. Not really intended, but it was a great excuse to write about the Flaming Lips for a school project I did two years ago.
- I have Atom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd, Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder, Blue by Joni Mitchell and In The Court Of... by King Crimson on original vinyl. They still have that sweet old smell.
- The last cd I got was the original score for the movie Amelie, written by Yann Tiersen.
- I've wasted tons of empty cd's with mixes I only listened to for a few days. Never again. I feel really guilty about that.
- I own all of PJ Harveys records...or to say 'owned' all of them.
- I have quite a share of mainstream albums, mainly Kelis - Tasty, Annie - Anniemal, that album by T.A.T.U. and Sade - Promise, which I all still enjoy very much.
- The next album I'm getting is the solo album of Louise (from Lamb)

Strictly speaking, most of the facts mentioned so far aren't really "fun facts".
Let's see:

- my first cd was You've Come a long way, baby by Fatboy Slim
- I own Britney Spears' first album
- I own the first three albums by The Bloodhound Gang (and I still like One Fierce Beer Coaster)
- my first vinyl record was Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret by Soft Cell

U can't touch this!

-My collection consists of 336 cds, 20 of which are Porcupine Tree cds, and 5 vinyls.
-The most money I ever spent on anything in it was $40 for a Transatlantic bootleg (and it was worth it).
-My collection takes up half of my bookshelf.
-The only big box set I own is a King Cirmson box set.
-The first cd in my collection is Mer De Noms and the last is John Zorn's The Unknown Masada
-I got ride of most of the music that I don't listen to anymore
-I have no way to play my vinyl.

My record collection isn't very big, because most things that I would like to own are allready somewhere in my house. So I only have 30 some records.

The first CD I owned was Eyesore: A Stab At The Residents (A tribute album for The Residents), which I got when I turned 12.
The first CD I bought for myself was Labradford - Precision LP
The Last CD I bought was Minor Threat - Complete Discography
I only own two vinyls, and they are both EP's. One Is The plastic Ono Band, and the other is The Residents - Stars and Stripes Forever/Kaw-liga

- First good rock CD I got: The Clash, s/t, age thirteen. London Calling was purchased several weeks later.
- The Clash and The Beatles are tied for which artists I have most CDs of. I have four full albums by each (Beatles - Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper, MMT, Rubber Soul, Clash - London Calling, S/T, Give 'Em Enough Rope, Combat Rock) and one solo album by a member of each band (Joe Strummer's Streetcore and George Harrison's Brainwashed)
- I consider myself to have a wide taste in music, when I see Gang Of Four's Entertainment touching Kanye West's Late Registration touching Sigur Ros's () touching Reel Big Fish's Turn The Radio Off touching Tom Waits's Rain Dogs.
- I have zero reggae but plenty of ska
- I have a jazz cd, which makes me sophisticated, right? right?
- I haven't listened to AC/DC's Back In Black for ages. But c'mon, it's not that bad an album :(
- The Garden State soundtrack is quickly becoming one of my favorite soundtracks :indie: <<<<<<<<<< this needs to be made into a smilie
- Every once in a while, I say to myself, "You know, Liam, you really ought to put on that old Green Day greatest hits CD you got for your twelfth birthday but haven't listened to in years", but I never do.
- I'm slightly embarassed of my Nine Inch Nails CD

Let's see...

-To start, I have 33 original-pressing vinyls from my parents

By the Beatles - Meet The Beatles, The Beatles Second Album, Beatles '65, Help! Soundtrack, Yellow Submarine Soundtrack, Hey Jude, I]Abbey Road[/I] and the single with Rain on it.

Other interesting vinyls are the greatest hits of The Supremes and KC and the Sunshine Band.

-My albums are arranged by format (vinyl, cd, tape), then alphabetized

-My first cd was Weird Al Yankovic's self titled album. He is also who I own the most albums of (12)

-I own a Queen greatest hits CD without Bohemian Rhapsody on it (got it for Christmas one year, too lazy to exchange it)

-There is a 3-way tie for the worst album in my collection - Pennywise Land of the Free, Jeff Foxworthy Big Funny and Go Simpsonic with The Simpsons. They would be joined by 2 NOFX Cd's but I gave them to my friend who moved to Pennsylvania a couple months ago.

-I keep it all on the bottom shelf of my stereo cabinet

I have three record players, and none of them work properly.

Two here, same deal. My grandma said she was going to give me her old one which may or may not work. We'll see.

- I've never counted my CDs and I refuse to ever do so.

- There are seven CDs on my desk missing their cover art slip dealies.

- According to the albums that I have stacked on top of my stereo, the cheapest CD I've purchased was X's Wild Gift for 3.99. I know for a fact this is not true. I bought The Sunshine Fix's first album for 1.99 and I bought an XTC album for less than a dollar, I think. I'm not sure which one it was but I'm thinking Oranges and Lemons.

- I own three box sets: Ray Charles' Birth of Soul, The Velvet Underground's Peel Slowly and See and Sam Cooke's The Man Who Invented Soul.

- I keep most of my CDs in shoe boxes covered in stickers.

- I average probably three new albums a week. When times are good, it can go up to five.

- Don't really own that much vinyl. I tend to only buy when: a) I find something really neat, or b) I have a working record player, which I haven't had for a while.

- I have one CD rack that contains my favorite CDs of all time.

- I used to keep a shoebox of those little plastic security tags that come on new CDs. You know, like when you open them up? I used to wrap them all up into a ball of plastic. That didn't last long.

- On account of my record collection, my domicile is a ****ing mess.

- I've got a stack of CDs next to me here that are on the chopping block. When I have at least ten CDs that I despise so much, I've got to get rid of them, off they go.

- I'd never talk about my record collection to anyone I met in person. I think I'd feel silly.

Those facts weren't really fun.

More fun facts:

The first 2 cds put into my collection were: the Mortal Combat Annihilation soundtrack, and Madonna's Ray of Light, those 2 are no longer with me.

The oldest cd I still have (and am looking at right now) is Fastball's All the Pain Money Can Buy.

I used to own 3 N*Sync cds, ones on my floor, one I left on a plane going to Washington DC, and I think the others in my room somewhere.

The first CD I ever bought was Green Day - International Superhits.

The last CD I bought was Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory.

There are about 35 CD's I don't listen to anymore because I got more in touch with alternative and indie than heavy metal.

The only reggae albums I own are by Matisyahu.

I bought my first jazz CD three weeks ago. It's John Coltrane - Kind of Blue.

There are several albums that i've bought twice, because i lost the original somehow.

It has happened twice that i bought an album i turned out to have already.

I listen to a lot of music that start with an F.

After i buy an album, i rip it to my HD and never touch it again unless i feel the urge to read the liner notes.

There have been two albums that i wanted to have, but once i saw them in store, i passed and just ordered them at my regular store, for the sole reason that the cover was too embarassing.

Both those albums were by Prince.

The shortest album titles in my collection are strikingly similar: O by Damien Rice and () by Sigur Ros. When you type it, one looks like an orange and the other looks like a lemon.

The two longest album titles in my collection are strikingly unsimilar. But as one might have guessed, they are both by artists that start with an F.

I have albums of 24 bands that are called The [something].

Frank Zappa is the most frequent artist in my collection with 19 albums. Miles Davis is second with 15.

i still listen to the ludacris albums.

a ton of my favorite albums of all time, i only own in mp3 format.

i've got about 200 cds that i actually listen to that range from classic rock to alternative to jazz to blues to folk. i accumulated them all in the past year.

i actually spent money on one of mike patton's solo albums. :( luckily it was only 6 dollars used.

when i worked at borders, we would get to take home the promo cds for free. it was a sweet gig.

i own the legacy edition of jeff buckley's grace as well as the normal version.

i have approximately 1200 albums on mp3 and full intend on replacing the majority with cd versions. when i have money.

1. I own about 350 albums, and another 200 or so on MP3 format that I'm slowly replacing.
2. My first album was Eiffel 65 - Blue
3. My newest Kyuss - Blues for the Red Sun
4. I have all the "Now's" up till 14.
5. I used to own every Eminem, Nelly, Ludacris and Dr. Dre album, until in a 8th angst ridden rage of hating rap me and my friends broke every single rap album we all owned which was about a waste of 1000 bucks total.
6. I have one greatest hits album, that is Britney Spears.
7. I own 2 copys of each Jane's Addiction studio album, for some reason I thought it was important in 8th grade to have two.
8. The most albums I have by one artists is 20 albums, and 2 DVD's which is the Rolling Stones.
9. I own all the Beatles studio discography, except the orginal Let it Be.
10. I have all the studio albums from N*sync, Backstreet Boys and I still listen to them every once in awhile.
11. Most played album Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking, Strays I listened to those two at least once a day for about 2 and a half years.
12. Least played album Velvet Revolver - Contraband listened to "Slither" once and never listened to it again.
13. I own 3 albums which I bought for a dollar each, all three being Britney Spears.
14. I own about 100 used albums.
15. I have one side of my CD rack for my favorite artists, and another side for bands I used to like.
16. I own one vinyl, that being Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.
17. CD I regret the most buying - Oasis - What's the Story (Morning Glory)
18. CD I'm happiest I got - Jane's Addiction - Strays (It got me wanting to go deeper into music.)
19. I have no CD covers with cracks, because when that happens I buy a brand new copy of it. I have wasted lots of money because of this.

- I have about 300 CDs

- The first CD in my collection is Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker

- The last CD in my collection is You Am I - Dress Me Slowly

- The decade I own the most CDs from is the 2000's

- The artist I own the most CDs by is Ryan Adams

- The first CD I ever bought, that I still own is Green Day - Dookie (I think)

- I have 0 albums on vinyl

- The newest album I own is The Drones - Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies will Float By

- I keep my CDs in racks, in alphabetical order, with each artist stored chronologically. Although, it seems I need some more storage space as I currently have about 50 CDs in piles all over my room. I take good care of them, none of my CDs are scratched.

The last album in my cd collection is Mary Star of the Sea by Zwan
The first single in my cd collection is Peaches & Cream by 112
The last single in my cd collection is Pain Killer by Turin Brakes
I own no vinyl whatsoever.
Cassettes = Aaliyah, Attila The Stockbroker, Peppino D'Agostino, Fleetwood Mac x2, Ginuwine, (hed) pe, Kelis, Pearl Jam, Oasis, Prince, Radiohead, Skindred.
The most releases I own by one artist, including DVDs, is Radiohead with a mighty 13. Not including DVDs, it becomes 11, with a tie between Radiohead and Jeff Buckley.
I own no Elvis Presley recording at all, because he sucks.
I organize my CDs by artist, then chronlogically by album, with live albums coming after the studio albums, and compilations last.
The first CDs I ever bought - all at once - were singles of The Boy Is Mine (Brandy/Monica), Pretty Fly (Offspring), and Ghetto Superstar (Pras Michel/ODB/Mya).
I own a Pokemon soundtrack.
I own exactly 743 standard albums, 129 compilations, 81 singles, 23 EPs, 8 bootlegs, and 8 DVDs. That adds up to just under 1000 releases.

The first actual vinyl record I bought was the Limited Edition Saint Patricks day green vinyl of Swagger by Flogging Molly
The shortest song I have is Punck by the Suicide Machines clocking in at 4 seconds, but you can't really count that as a song, so the shortest actual song is **** the Kids II by Nofx clocking in at 5 seconds
The longest song I have is The Decline by Nofx clocking in at 18 minutes and 19 seconds
The most songs I have by any one artist is 169 by Nofx. I don't even like them that much, and they've already topped every category.
The least amount of time taken up by listening to my entire collection of one band is 45 seconds for FEAR
The most amount of time taken up by listening to my entire collection of one band is 6.1 hours for Nofx
The shortest full album I have is 4.5 minutes
The longest full album I have is a tie between Aenima by Tool, Salival by Tool, Sink with California by Youth Brigade, Why do they Rock so Hard by Reel Big Fish, and How it Goes by Big D and the Kids Table
48 songs in my collection contain the word "****" in the title.
8 songs contain the words "jesus" or "god".
1 song contains the word "****" and that is They Saved Hitlers **** by Angry Samoans

Over the years I've given 10 cd's in my collection as birthday gifts. The ones I can remember are Oasis' Be Here Now, Audioslave's s/t, Hoobastank's s/t, Bjork's Greatest Hits, and Further Seems Forever's How to Start a Fire.

Interesting fact:

My record collection is better than your record collection, it's got 8 cars and a house in Ireland. Sing it!
