are they actually any good or not??
this album has been tickling me, its difficult to make out whether it is jsut a complete noise with no purpose or intent to break musical boundaries, or whether its the most complex and studious thing to be released into the media of pop since kid a/amnesiac??
any ideas...

They are a joke band, they'll split up soon.

I got the Test Icicles album the other week and I have to argee, I don't see anything special in these guys at all. I think crictics have just listen to them and thought 'wow! a Scremo-Rap-Electro crossover' and labeled them like pioneers but I just think it's just pointless noise. They are some decent moments in their songs but nothing to blow you away.
My Rating Of The Album: 4/10

I've really enjoyed them live, but the recordings on the album don't live up to the performances.
I guess around 6.5 /10 for the album
You want us to tell you whether a band is good or not? surely that is a juegement for you to make.
If it helps I think they are boring.

Test Icicles are just another band trying to cash in on that whole dance-punk/new-wave revival stuff. Avoid if possible.

they've always attracted polarised oppinions.
tbh if you're interested in challenging your preconceptions then you're not going to 'get' test icicles, especially live.

O god another test icicles thread. I seem to be the only person on here who likes them. I think they are amazing, but its just disappointing that they dont have a drummer or bassist and they play the rhythm section through an ipod. But i think theyll break up soon and word is they have a new release coming out soon...

What's bad about using a drum machine and not having a bassist?

I've never heard them. All i know is that if they're name was an attempt at humor, it failed. Either way, it's a s'hit name

or it could a lyric from joy divisions transmission?

Unfortunately not, I'm the bass player in 'Shut Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames'. DTTR are putting our stuff out for the foreseeable future and Whiskas looks after us. Lovely chap. Buy the 'What we all want' compilation, its killer.

i've heard a lot of good things about your band but have found it difficult to get hold of any mp3's, i'll just have to wait for the compilation :)

I completely agree when hearing this album I was just so confused, Pitchfork Media say they are a Blood Brothers-esque band so I expected rich excitement and chaos but instead it was just a bore.

I saw one of their music videos on Rage last night.
The actual video wasn't very good, they were just playing basketball...yay? What the hell has that got to do with the song? :p

wow, that's such a retarded comment. what the **** do 99% of the videos out there have to do with the song?
wow, that's such a retarded comment. what the **** do 99% of the videos out there have to do with the song?it was a bit of a silly comment, but most good videos do have something to do with the song. It gets to me how little effort people put into videos, a bland video is such a wasted oppertunity in my eyes.

I remember reading they liked the Pixies video when they just walked on the rocks and did nothing. That was the inspiration.
You're talking about the video for "Velouria." It's a disappointing video, in my opinion. It destroyed the feelings and air that once surrounded that song.

Well, the Test-Icicles guys said they wanted a video that looked like it was maybe going somewhere, but just...didn't. Don't know if that was the message Pixies wanted also.
**** Pixies, man. I like Frank Black, but I hate the fat guy that sings.
