Stagg DH. the bell on this thing is insane!

i want to hear it tho, my shop has 1 in, but youre not allowed to touch it.

what would the practical uses be, and what sound would it make?

Drum Phil
02-18-2006, 09:25 AM
old news. Sabian make one too.

I imagine it would have a lot more overtones and be lower pitched than a 20/22" ride

DemonicRubberDucky
02-18-2006, 09:29 AM
You're not allowed to try it out? That's retarded. If you bought it there, you would be buying a cymbal without even hearing it first. At drum shops, you should spend at least a good hour listening before you buy something...

anyway, a 30 inch ride, huh? Sounds crazy. I bet it would have a somewhat similair sound to Zildjian's Crash of Doom.

Panopticon

it would ring like HELL...and stagg rides already ring a lot (at least the DH's) I tried a 20" DH rock ride and it literally rang for about 1 and a half minutes

i seen a 30" ride on this drumset i play in the band room in my high school.
it sounds like a bell and i have to hit it right in the center so it doesn't ring for a long time

youre allowed to try if youre serious about buying, but thats it.

suprisingly enough, im not serious about buying it

haha imagine if the bell was sized in proportion to the cymbal...it would probly be so big that the edge of the bell would be 3 inches away from the sabian logo...THINK OF THE RING!!!

What kind of music store doesn't let you try things before you buy them?

the ones that rip u off...
they appear to be good but when u try them they're a complete fake..thats y they make u buy them so when u go home and try them and find out that it's a fake u can't return it cuz they don't do refunds

......learned that from past experience buying a guitar

Listen to it, comment on it, do whatever.
Then say "nah I think I'll go with something else" and pretty much thank them and walk out

the bass drum in that kit seems to be small as well, so that might be why it seems more than 30"

02-18-2006, 07:01 PM
The guy from Sunny Day Real Estate (William Goldinger or something) uses no cymbals smaller than 22" (except hats). He's got like a 22" crash, a 24" crash, a 26" ride or something...a bunch of others and I know he has a 30". It was in Modern Drummer a while back. But all his cymbals are Zildjians.

Zildjian
02-18-2006, 07:28 PM
30 in is alot of cymbal..Maybe a little to much....But yea thats a monster cymbal

Aaron
02-18-2006, 09:29 PM
i reckon give that AA 15 years and it'd sound good, when it ages and mellowed out alittle. but now it'd not sit right i think. i want a 25" ride, so the jump isn't that huge.

Berk
02-18-2006, 09:48 PM
22'' big enough for me.

A 30" ride would be awesome. Just imagine the stage presence..

Wasnt it BB who told someone he had a 66" like gospel ride or something? That was one funny thread.

Hahaha priceless

Anyways , i don't think a 30" ride would be very wise to buy ( unless your name is Terry bozzio)
I don't think it would be easy to play , but then again i have never seen it in real life so...

i posted my dream kit in the "kit constucter" thread, because it has some "custom" drums and cymbals, like a 30" ride. Some one asked about it, I posted the link, then the pure drummer bumped the thread

Any company will make you a 30" ride. Well, most will. It's about $100 per extra inch from Sabian or Zildjian.

So if you wantted a A Custom Medium 30" ride.. that'd be like 1,200 bucks.

NCDrummer
09-16-2006, 05:44 PM

GhostNote

Man, that costs about the same as an intermediate stamped 20" vintage K ride (one of the rarest zildjian cymbals ever made). So basically, i can see what i'd rather spend my money on. But here's a thought, imagine a lounge jazz trio (piano, bass, drums), and the drummer has an 18x16 kick, 10x6 tom, 13x11 floor tom and a 13x5 snare, then put a nice big AA 30" ride in there....any takers? no? lol

Aaron

I'd like to get one and put 90 rivets in it. Now that'd be a nice jazz ride!
