try sitting in one of those drum thrones that have the back support. kinda like a chair not a stool like most thrones have

If 5 minutes... man, your back must be worse than mine, and I've got scoliosis.

o_O

Go to a chiropractor, man.

What was all that about:confused: Im guessing he's edited it out now?

To threadstarter: if you can't get throne with a back rest thing then use a desk chair if you have one until then?

maybe you're not sitting straight up when you play. If you lean forward or anything for extended amounts of time pretty regularly i can see why you'd be getting sore. Make sure that your posture is good while playing.

Yea I agree you might be leaning to hit your toms, maybe scoot them in some

i think the chair im now using with a back helps with the posture and that helps the back problem thanks guys

Just try keeping it a straight for a while and do no excess leaning or bending. Like drumbum said, move your toms closer, if possible move everything close so you don't bend your back much when playing.

If your back already hurts after 5 minutes of playing ( Wich i suppose ain't even intensive playing ) then you have a serious problem.

I'm guessing the problem is one of the following :
* Your sitting you high/low on your drum throne.
* You have a bad way of sitting
* You are hurting muscles while playing.

So the higher/lower problem is pretty easy to solve , just adjust your Throne and see if it makes any difference. As for your way of sitting , try to sit up straight but not push your self to hard , just make it comfortable.

And for the last problem , this would have nothing do to with your Throne. Maybe you have a very very bad technique in the way you play the drums. If you havn't got one yet , i would strongly suggest to get a teacher to learn good technique ,
and a visit to the doctor wouldn't hurt neither.

Playing drums is all about having fun , alone or with other people in a band , but with that pain i doubt your having fun.
anyways good luck dude
