i was just thinking to myself the other day (as you do), but what would you suppose the difference would be to replacing the 14" top hi-hat cymbal with a 14" crash cymbal?
i was just woundering, i wouldnt of thought that the crash would last as long as the proper hat cymbal, but what would the difference in sound be like?

well x hats can be 2 crashes to make a pair of high hats
2 10" splashes also works pretty cool as some x-hats :)

two ride cymbals for 22" hats would be beastly. you'd also need one beffy stand.

^the wash would be ear piercing
to threadstarter: shouldnt be too much of a difference. will most likely be darker especially if you're using a thin crash

There are a few things you can do...
10'' china over 10'' splash
8'' splash over 12'' splash
12'' splash over 13'' splash
13'' splash over 12'' splash
14'' crash over 14'' china
Too many things to name but if you really want ''thrash hats'' get 12'' splash over 12'' china....
Good luck! :chug:
