i play metal, i'm going to buy either a Jordison Signature a wood firecracker (both Pearl) metal is really ringy sometimes and wood is more easily tuned, so i have a dillema on which to purchase. any input would be helpful

Tama Superstar Birch can get a big pop out of it, that's what I had, and when I first got it it was REALLY popping. I tuned it down though.

I find it the other way round, really easy to tune my steel snare, and a pig to tune my maple snare.

With the 'ringy' part, when you play with other people, you wont notice it at all. It will make the snare seem a lot louder though.

Why don't you go to your local shop, and try both snare's.

I have heard good things about the JJ snare, but try other steel snares that are 13x6.5 before you buy, as if you go for the JJ one, it will burn a hole in your pocket.

well, out of the 2 i would go with the JJ sig, but i would look around abit more, pearl sensition is basically the same thing as the JJ sig, and it is cheaper, and u don't have to deal with the slipknot logo
