The instrumentation was too basic for it to be near 7 minutes long.

true but on that audio you cant hear what our lead guitarist is doin cos he was on the other side of the room, plus its got vocals which werent on that. but i agree some of the sections are repeated a few too many times

I know and with it bein "the poon song" aswell, a little too much coincidence for me
Awesome stuff. Do I detect a slight pinch of Iron Maiden influence?

I could hear the lead stuff. Its just the opening chord progression seemed a bit bland. No melody or anything, just basic power chords.

Correctamundo, theres another track ill put up later which couldnt have more of an iron maiden stylee chorus also

Your intro sounds exactly like the intro to As I Am by Dream Theater, but it was still a pretty good song.

I knew that would get noticed, yup i pinched parts of the opening crescendo from DT as a bit of a homage, obviouslt played with far worse standard than porty boy

I am amazed how the sound of the snare hit when one hand was on the cymbal and the other when scratching your nose, haha
I really enjoyed it, I really love the set up also and have to admit I use those same type of beats so I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one who plays that way
Don't ya just love the double hit on the snare straight to the cymbal, i start to get some hyper while doing exercises of constantly doing those that i start to literally hop in my seat

Agreed. I was actually starting to fall asleep to be honest. Solid playing though, I don't think I saw one mess up.
I wish I knew more drummers like you because then I'd have someone to play guitar with.

Very good, best rock I've heard in a while.(drumming wise. Music was good but repetitive)

Decent playing man, I love the stolen intro :) There seemed to be some really nice maideny sections of that peice. Sounded really solid. I liked the bits where you switched onto the china, the fill's also sounded really good.
Couldn't have picked two better influances for the song imo.

That was awesome. Keep up the good work. Everything about your playing was great. And I didn't think it was too boring, I liked it so much I went back to have a second listen. On the second listen I could hear a bit of the second guitar part, and it sorta made the song alot better. But regardless it was great. Just make sure not to get a bad singer who butchers it;)

That part where the asian-looking girl walked in and rocked my world.
She looked asian... so don't tell she wasn't or it'll kill my buzz.
Nicko is the man. That was from the UK clinic tour he did last year right? Absolutely amazing. I got my Eddie bass drum head signed.

I also spotted some Nicko influence... when you play on the ride cymbal, and play like two fast hits on the ride, then on the snare, in the end of a bar... pretty hard to explain but maybe you know what I mean :)

the intro was a rip-off off of dream theater-as i am.. and you have the worst sounding bass ever (at least on that recording, but i have no further negative comments.. i liked the song although i couldn't hear th eguitar really. keep it up!!
edit: I'm an idiot.. this was posted before.. my bad..

Hahah the 'She's hot!' made that awesome.
I agree with the other that 7 minutes is a bit long, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume the vocals make it great.
Cool playing, a little repetitive in some parts but I really liked it.

so uh, because of a couple of clues in the video i'm wondering if this was done at school? If it was, was it some type of class, or after school? You see, i go to a REALLY crappy school when it comes to music. We've got a concert band thats decent but gets no funding so we spend half our time groveling for money. No jazz band, nothing else. It always amazes me when i see stories of kids who have a class where they can jam out and use the schoo'ls equipment (which is usually pretty nice), or stories about talent shows where bands get signed. It's a drawback of living in the sticks, i guess.

Its was recorded in the music room at uni and the bass drum along with most of the rest of the kit sounds really crap in there cos there is no acoustic dampening, just wooden lockers for our gear wall to wall to for bands to store their gear in. thats why im wearing the headphones to cut out all the high end reverb bouncin around the place.
when the final studio recordin is done ill post it so that you can all better appreciate the song as it will have at least vocals and more dynamics
