Woah. Where did you get? Just upload it through YouSendIT.
You can download some new demos from here (www.livemetallica.com) for free
i would be happy with a least 3 straight up metal albums back to the old days

Well, this was posted:
ive alredy herd metallicas new material and its fukin great, dark, heavy quite fast wiv pretty gd vocals sligtly death metal but still hetfield. if u giv me ur msn ill send u the files and u cn c wot u think.
After that was posted, larsagi posted this
You can download some new demos from here for free
So I checked out the site but it only contained mp3's of all Metallica's concerts that they have recorded.
While this was going on, people have been talking about Saint Anger and what they want from the next Metallica album and maybe future albums.
Hope this helps :thumb:

To go out of topic, who else here doesn't enjoy Metallica playing their 80s material after their self-titled album tour? I've recently downloaded some bootlegs and I can't listen to them as they sound like covers.
So ehh, LarsAgi, care to post some of these demos?
I am familiar with that site (It was sent to me in an email from Metallica club ;)) but it's just live concert .mp3s (Still pretty good tbh!) I don't know where demos are :x
Nah it's the truth, they really don't. I think it's the whole down tune(ness) just doesn't sound like the original.

It was an accident, All of the pyrotechnics were positioned correctly and Jaymez Hetfield was aware of where they were..
However, He was approached and told that the Pyro is now coming from the back of the stage now and to keep away for the que...
Jaymes assumed that they were then just going to come from the back, and that the original plans had been scrapped...
He walked towards the front of the stage, heard them going off behind him... Little did he know he was standing 1 metre in front of one, he stepped backwards into it, giving him first degree burns ect:...
The Metallica show was cancelled due to the injuries, and G&R's came on to take their place, Riots started and the indoor stage ended up being destroyed and burned due to drunk angry fans!

How can they all be sellouts if Rob was never even in the band before? St Anger is still good, give them a chance. They would be sellouts if they went back to what they used to do, just because the fans want them to.

What songs are you covering? I'd love to do vocals for a "softer" song like Fade or Unforgiven, even if I am a pretty bad singer (I've been told I have a good natural singing voice for stuff like Fade, but when I try to sing high for something like Puppets or Creeping Death it sounds like crap)

Thanks, and you may be correct, I'm not sure. About the amps though, I know that most of the time when Hetfield is interviewed by a guitar mag or something, he turns all of his knobs to zero and basically covers up what all his settings are. Hammett supposedly is open with that info though.

I said the 1st four albums were masterpieces.... which is synonymous with great, outstanding, spectacular,etc... Where did I say they were just okay?
Metallica will always be a great live band.... but the "Black" album has not aged as well as the first four.... and Load, Reload and St. Anger are all sub-par, dumbed-down and mediocre.

I don't like the Black album anymore. I liked it when it first came out in 1991... I was 18 at the time, but that album has not aged well. Now in the 21st century, I'll occassionally dig out Master of Puppets and Justice for some great musical enjoyment... but when I try to listen to the Black album, it just sounds LAME to me. Haven't read the entire thread yet so this may have already been covered, but I really like the St Anger album. The only thing I would have changed is add a few signature Kirk Hammett solo's and change Lars Ulrich's snare drum !

Thankfully he switched it when they filmed the St Anger Rehearsals DVD. That sounded heaps better.
As for best album and song, I would probably vote for "One" and "...And Justice For All", even though that album also has it's sound issues.

Yes that is exactly why I cant stand that album. Taken alone the songs are good and if some new band had come out with that album I would have said "wow this is pretty good" but since it was Metalica I couldn't overlook the lack of solos or of complexity in the songs the same way I could normally.
BTW Creeping Deth: Halford >>>>>>>>>> Other Queers
Well the songs were fairly complex and I really liked them a lot. Even though I miss solos, I'm extremely optimistic about the new album.

My problem is that I like soloing, but since my songs aren't incredibly creative anymore I'm just soloing to a four chord background which gets boring. And anytime I try to write a cool random riff for in the middle of a song I get another song stuck in my head so i can't write anything that doesn't sound like that riff. Like earlier I was writing this song and I was trying to find a pre-solo riff and all I could think of was something like before the Blackened solo.

Meh, I can write my own riffs, which are sometimes really cool. But then I find myself with a song full of changing riffs, it just won't go anywhere, I can't write a solo, or interlude to save my life.

Oh, I am in a band which is at least 10 times more skilled then I am. They want to cover For Whom The Bell Tolls, but since I'm the only guitarist, I can play the whole song, I'm just not sure which guitar I should follow.
Edit: We write/want to play heaps funk metal, a rhythm and lead guitar, but the rhythm guitar is played by the bass (Our bassist is huge, his fingers are like solid sticks, so axe, he can do Anesthesia almost completely)...

youre absolutly right, i can play it too, the first time i heard it it was on the radio and i dindn't thought it was METALLICA but it was,now i play it a lot too.

Id say follow both parts and during the "solos" have the bass cover the rythem. FWTBT is my favorite Metallica song and the first full song I learned.
What about the riff were the two guitars are playing the same 'progression' about two strings apart? I figure I'll play from B/E strings, and the bass can do the D/G strings, does that make sense?

That would probably work. Or if there is a rythem part undeneath it have the bass play that and you just follow the higher part and forget the harmony. My band does this for the harmonized-ish solo at the end of Iron Man. I just pay the more prominant part and it sounds good.

Have the bassist guitar :D. Good song it is, i learnt the whole thing from ear, When my band covers it, we have 2 guitarists. But using the bass as the second guitar will work, except at the melody as said above. peace

I didn't understand a word you just said :D
But yeah, most probably have the bassist as the rhythm (Hell our bassist could do lead on his bass, provided it was 6 strings and tuned to standard guitar, he really is talented).
Edit: We don't really have a vocalist though, but I've been thinking, how would a female vocalist sound (I mean female vocals to For Whom The Bell Tolls btw)? Just to be different really, the whole idea behind our band is to be different...

yea i know that r.i.p came out before black, but do you think they sound the same?did metallica copy if you do think it sounds the same?also on another note, dave mustaine supposudly wrote the main riff for "leper messiah",is this true?

I dont like neither of those songs so I really could care less who copied who. But there are many similar songs from different bands that sound similar and aren't copied. If only megadeth got a good vocalist I would probably have all their albums by now. They should cover MoP maybe? That would be cool.

Dave wrote some stuff for Leper Messiah. He sued Metallica because they didn't give him writing credits.

Dave's voice is unique, the only other vocal style, I think, that would work with 'Deth songs is maybe Death Metal vocals, Opeth style.
I really have grown a huge appreciation for Dave's sound though, it's so unique.

I think both Metallica and Dave's Megadeth both use the same thrash sound based on material from Diamonhead(spelling), Motorhead, perhaps the Misfits, but Dave takes it to a different level, which I can't really find words to describe.

I was just on Scuzz and the video for "Unforgiven II" came up. It was the first time I heard the song proper. I know it's from Reload, not ne1s favourite album, but after i gave it a listen i thought hey its brilliant. What do guys think? Also I looked at the lyrics for both Unforgiven+UnforgivenII, are their meanings connected or sumthing ?

Unforgiven II is a good song, but intro guitar starts from being boring and annoying. It doesn't blend well with that intro fade in sound.

I like his recent concert vocals for KEA songs. When he did search and destroy and hit the lights at rock in rio 04, man that was sweet. I'd choose those 2 over the ones on the album anytime.

The Call of The Ktulu?
Orion?
To Live is To Die?
Anesthesia?
Although, none of those sound really Medievil, I guess The Call of The Ktulu might, in some like Far distant land

Orion or The Call of Ktulu are two instrumental songs that I can name off the top of my head but I don't think they can be classified under medieval...
Add: By the way, welcome to musicanforums and the metallica thread!

Ok, at the end of the week me and my band are preforming one at our school interlude.
I was wondering if someone could do me a big favour, if someone could tell where i could find or (send me) a file with gun and war sounds simlair to the intro of "One". I think it would make our opening more better. So doesn anyone know what im talking about
, and can someone help me. thank you

can anyone help me, cause i really need the sound effect a.s.a.p. sorry for being impatient, its the way i am.
I can't even begin to comprehend why you're doing One.
I guess because if you did something that was really good, chances are no one would like it, but if you did an MTV Favourite, you could get the crowd going.
Carlos Santana
06-26-2005, 09:53 PM
so we shouldnt do "one"
I don't think so :p
I reckon it would be cool to do For Whom The Bell Tolls, easy as, and it's great, everyone can get into it. Your band and the audience.

well we sort of been practicng for like a while, now. we got it down pretty good, So i guess im gonna have to go ahead with one, for better or worse
You could learn FWTBT in like 1 day man, it's really not hard.
If can do One, chances are you can do FWTBT easily.
flamesofbodom
06-26-2005, 10:29 PM
One's not too hard though. It took me about two or three day to nail it perfectly
FWTBT isn't hard at all. The rhythm is incredibly easy, and is the leads. Don't know about drums or bass but guitar sure is easy.
