Because no more are needed for R&M, and people like Med and Riva would get modded way before me.

I think the only thing working against Med at the moment is that he hasn't been around all that often.

I appreciate your support though :)

it was absolutely unreal, and not just saying that from a biased fans point of view. the humor perfectly broke the pattern of solemnness that you got from the therapy sessions.

lol, fav monent, "call now and we wil lshove 50 grand up your @ss!"
"yeah, in one dollar bills"

or maybe, Bob Rock: I just love playing this kind of music
Lars : This kind of music!? We are the greatest f***ing heavy metal band ever, we aren't just this type of f***ing music!

also, i think i have a better understanding of what the guys really are. they arent just this huge gods plated in gold, they are pretty much like anyone with problems and issues with the people they love. after seeing bob rock and the work he did on st anger and the stuff he put up with, makes me think he isnt a bad bloke. shame he is simple plans producer -vomits-

the dvd itself was worth it, i mean i got a shiit load of stuff for just 25 bucks, (about 19 bucks US) so it kept me intertained for at least five hours. SKOM = 15/10

Yeah the Movie itself was great, but i think the deleted scenes were more entertaining, there was much more actual music in them instead of just arguing.

My favorite one would have to be them plannning out the Oakland Raiders parking lot show, i think that was a genius idea, and i think it would probly be the best thing ever to have been there (football, beer, barbecue, metallica) doesnt get much better than that.

Yeah it is anything but a BAD album. I think it is a great album, even though i would choose any of there first 4 over it, it is their 5th best cd, its still in my top 10 albums of all time though.

It is overrated in the sense that it has sold more than any other metallica cd, but if u talk to most hardcore metallica fans they will tell u that it is not the best one they have made.

So i guess yes, it is overrated by average listener, but not by the extreme metallica fan-base.

Black, Reload and AJFA are my LEAST fav 'tallica albums.

Although it doesn't mean that Black album is bad. Tastes are different. Some may like it.

Overall, it's a great album. Maybe the problem is in me...

Joe

I find the black album kinda annoying because people hear it and say "yeah, I also really like metallica" and Im like really? And they say "yeah, Nothing else matters is my fave". Maybe Im beeing awkward, but I find that annoying.

Well that's ok with me. It bothers me if they call it their fave if they haven't heard any of the other albums. I know some people that like all Metallica and some that only like the black album. It's ok with me, I just hope they buy the older albums

someone here said james's solo's were better than kirks.................. now come on, i dont care if it is your opinion. thats like saying simpleplan are more talented musicians than dreamtheatre. James is my idol dont get me wrong but kirks solos are amongst the best in any metal band ever. lightning quick, and have a nack to make people nearly teary eyed. also james doesnt do the MoP interlude on his own its double tracked with kirk playing it at the same time, apart from one little bit in it where kirk plays a second layer. that said james is an incredible riff/solo writer who im still trying to figure out how he plays some of the riffs he does whilest singing. but hes not in the same in your face solo'ing league as kirk. peace

He banned Moaner and Tonewhore, who are both productive members of the site.
Moaner owns the Jam session and Tonewhore helps out in the begginers forum all the time.
Perma banning them for one or two borderline spam posts didn't go down well with a lot of people, especially when four star users who spam all the time didn't have anything happen to them. When you have people like plexi and Liberi running around something is bound to happen.

Yea, during partys he would get really aggressive, and one night he bit one of Jaymez'z friends on the back of the neck..... The woke Dave mustain up the next day and said here is your ticket back home..... and that was it....
He apparantly said What!!! no second chance???
The thing that most upset him was that he sold everything he had for Metallica's success and then got thrown out..... If you have the Some kinda monster DVD there is an interview with Mustain and Lars on there, its the first time they have met since he was kicked out.....
It is pretty insane!!!!

I don't actually like them, never have, never will. But I do find that Enter Sandman and The Struggle Within are very good songs.

They have had their music on game soundtracks before, I guess that this time they want to play music for thier own game.

People seem to think that Metallica themselves are getting all the profits off this game and its yet another sell-out move, but I have to disagree. The game company is making the game and has asked Metallica to provide music and the rights to the whole Metallica enterprise, or whatever. I don't even know if it's called "Metallica: the Game" or something, or is it?

Either way, I don't think there's a "James Hetfield Goes to Rehab" level or a "Rob Trujillo crabwalking" minigame or anything.

LarsAgi007
03-03-2005, 05:49 PM
It was James and Cliffs little side project. They played some gigs and stuff, but it was just messing around and jamming. I think James played drums in it.

Yes he did play drums in it... But then his guitarist left, and he took the position as guitarist, and the had auditions for drummers once a week....
One of Jaymez friends brought round lars.... Jaymez states that lars was possibly the worst drummer he had ever seen, and he had only one cymbal that apparantly kept falling over so they had to stop and pick it up like avery 30 seconds lol......
Lars kept practicing though, and met again with jaymez through a magazine called the recycler some months later.....

Mister_Che
03-03-2005, 05:52 PM
Hmm...I think we might have some history bits wrong:

Lars and James met up before they even found Cliff. They saw him in a gig with another band and asked him to join theirs.

LarsAgi007
03-03-2005, 05:55 PM
Youre getting confused. Spastik Children was around 85/86. Let me look it up.

Yea, your right, i am thinking of just before jaymez moved, they had possesion of an old house that was due to be demolished, it was Ron Mcgovney as bassist..... Shortly before Metallica.... I am let to believe some of the material from that band was used in kill em all though

LarsAgi007
03-03-2005, 06:03 PM
A random question here.... But i was on metallica.com as i normally am lol and i wanted to view all the material that had been officially released because i thought i may be missing some....
I looked at the DVD's, i had all of them
I looked at CD's i had all
I looked at the singles though,, I have the unnamed feeling single, and the some kinda monster single.... I noticed a St. Anger single, and a Frantic single i had never seen in my local stores, so i clicked on them to see what was on em, and there was several songs i had never heard of before..... Sniffing glue ect: I dont think the songs are by the band so they must just be covers, i was wondering if anyone knows who they are by...

I went to see Metallica last year in Columbus,Oh and I went to the site and bought the audio download of the concert. On some of there shows there was something called Jungessance or something like that....I don't recall a song with this title I am guessing it is Truijo's solo? Because Kirk solos where called Kirk Doodle or something like that. In Columbus Truijo had no solo....hell.... they never mentioned his name or introduced him to the crowd. James introduced Kirk several times and he mentioned Lars name during the last song.

While I am at it might as well share my first experience hearing Metallica

I remember a loooooong time ago when a few friends went to see Ozzy back in the 80's and all i heard was some group named Metal something opened up for Ozzy and the blew Ozzy off the stage. At that time I live ate s*** and drank Iron Maiden. I was too engulfed in them to pay any attention to Metallica(hard to believe). This was around the time of the Powerslave Tour by Iron Maiden . Then I went to see the Caught Somewhere in Time tour by Iron Maiden.

I guess in 88 Metallica came to Dayton,Oh and to Cincinatti,Oh with Queensryche. My first four concerts were 2 Iron Maiden and 2 Metallica concerts.
( got busted by the Cincinatti DEA for a bowl of weed, they caught me because they were dressed like they were going to the concert!) I almost went to jail instead of the concert!! But luckily I made it in and saw the show!! I can still remember the falling Statue of Liberty and the Stage light that came swinging over James Head!!They also threw a pie in Hammets face because it was his birthday(Cincinatti Gardens)Nov. 18 ,1988

Well, it's not too exciting. But Metallica's message board got hacked once again. That has to piss a lot of people off.

Anyway, I think I have finally lost my Metallica...ism. I have listened to them for 5+ years pretty much straight, and now everytime I listen to them I get extremely bored with em'. Don't worry I am not trying to bash them in anyway, it sucks knowing that I will never be into them like I was before though. :(

I used to be the biggest Metallica fanboy around. I still am a fanboy, but now I accept other bands as being just as good.

Metallica died a long time ago. Heck they're not even metal any more. Sad isnt it :(. Wish they held themseleves together like Megadeth and Slayer.

They had constant lineup changes, massive drug problems and they split up remember ?

Abbr. M Any of a category of electropositive elements that usually have a shiny surface, are generally good conductors of heat and electricity, and can be melted or fused, hammered into thin sheets, or drawn into wires. Typical metals form salts with nonmetals, basic oxides with oxygen, and alloys with one another.

I disagree on a number of these points. It says nothing about the relationship with classical music, the frequent use of 3/4 time, the use of distortion, etc...

Hey, Metallica are most certainly not done yet!!!! They still have a couple of albums left in them, maybe more..... I wouldn't judge them till they are truly over!
Metallica is not nessasarilly a metal band either, They have a whole load of Metal songs that all of us Metallica fans go crazy over, but they did say right from the start we dont want to be known as a Thrash band, Metal band, Folk band even,
Heck i appreciate them more because of load and reload... 85% say they are awfull albums.... Thats because they were a Metal band up untill those albums, and when they came out with a blues and country album, the only fans of theres were mainly METAL fans..... Ultimatly i think that is why Metallica have done so well, There is a song for everyone.... You have Fight Fire with fire, for the hard rockers out there.... You have Mama said for the country likers... You have Nothing else matters, for the people who enjoy soft rock.....
And so it goes on.....
Metallica have always admired the metal fans, and when the time is right they will return to them with a kick a$s album!
You can't blame a band for what they play, if they like it they play it.... Music is for them, and we are lucky enough to have Metallica share that music with us, and i will always appreciate that....
Thank you :amaze:

Well metal isn't just about the music... it's alot about how you act etc... they've become more mainstrem (which is very UNMETAL)... Some of the newer albums are just about making money etc......

I never listened to that song orion, because it had a crappy synth start, but i gave it a chance the other day,and wot a gr8 song!!!

I don't believe it's synth... our bassist nearly gets the same sound by distortion...

Someone hasn't seen them live, any guesses who

They've got an album coming out soon, so they're hardly dead. They just got off of two tours full of playing old music, so they're not only alive but playin metal. We don't know what the new album will be like

It's become more mainstream because more and more people are growing onto it. It's not so much that the music and style has changed, its that more and more people like it.

Has anyone else noticed that metal is becoming a style now a days? Like kids will go out and buy a motorhead t-shirt because of the cool art on it (and Motorhead is such a sweet name for a band) but then they hear ace of spades on the radio or whatever and most of them would probably be like "what the f*** is this garbage??"

edit: Probly doesn't belong in the Metallica thread but i value your guys' opinion more than most.

Well thats cause there is no such thing as 'the best' as its merely subjective. Since he's in a Metallica thread he won't get flamed, more like educated.

Kid, I'm glad you like Metallica, but you should broaden your horizons more. And dont label people as 'best' in anything, you'll get flamed.

Actually that is a very weak live preformance, not just for Metallica, but for any band in general. In '97 Metallica was out of ideas and out of the whole genre of metal entirely. oh and as for bands with better riffs than Metallica and guitarists than Kirk

Megadeth
Dark Angel
Testament
Iron Maiden
Overkill
Judas Priest
Helloween

are all fine examples of better riffs and lead guitar work.

Metallica are 100% over-rated

i really hate when people can't spell. it isn't that hard just pay attention in english class

p.s. Maiden pwns, IMO their stuff sounds a lot more origional/varied than metallica's stuff. although metallica is still good, maiden in no way should be dissed

It might be one of the best, but not the best. Metallica is my favorite band, but I know Kirk isn't the best lead guitarist out there, I know Lars isn't the best drummer, etc.

Ok I'm usually not mad at grammer errors, considering i make a lot, but is it supposed to be "are?"

"Metallica are the best"
"Led Zeppelin are the best"
etc etc

"metallica" is a single group; therefore, isn't it "is"

like "Metallica is the best?"

sorry, it's just like a pet peeve in this forum when people say a group are the best
