Hey Guys i have just downloaded my first Dream Theater song because i have heard so much about them... and it was a cover of Metallicas Master of puppets.... What a great cover, its quite hard to find a guitar player that can play Kirks solo almost 100% correct!...

Just finished listening to the first disk of S&M. I like the symphony score with it.

did the conductor of the symphony write the score or did Metallica. I am wondering how they put that stuff together and who has say over what instruments are used etc.

John Williams did the scores for: Star wars(all episodes) Indiana Jones, Jurassic park, Saving Private Ryan, Harry Potter, Jaws, Minority report, E.T, Superman, Hook, Home Alone, The Lost World at least. I'm leaving a lot out though.

My father was very indepth with classical, he used to do reel to reel recordings of it every night. was doing that since about 1964 and grew up going to the boston symphony orchestra. my wife was second chair violin in her university orchestra

About Live ****, I used to think Seattle was better because of its awsome Blackened/MOP/...AJFA, but now that I think about it, I (if i was a fan back in 90's) would have had way more fun at the San Diego concert. 2 days in a row, plus killer songs ranging from soft-hard rock-metal. Kirks and Jasons doodle on San Diego is also a lot better IMO. Also, my head starts to hurt from listening to Seattle for too long. Wierd.
About Lars naked, drop it now. If you wanna compare yourself to him without seeing it, lets just say we all hope that picture was taken when he didn't have a boner, or else he's very small (and proud for some reason).

About SKOM, I tried watching it, but it turned out to be much more emo than I would have hoped it to be. Like one big therapy session caught on tape beginning to end. Not much music footage (that always sucks). Got to see Lars dad though, he looks kickass. 2nd rip van winkle.

well, most mods are cool and forgiving and understand that no one will die if you break a rule but SonorKen is like a cop and just makes sure NOBODY BREAKS A SINGLE RULE and thats why i don't like him and he will probably ban me for this but i don't care (could always come back with a new account)

If you get banned, you have done something to deserve it.

I had a Metallica Extravaganza - invited some friends round watched Metallica DVDs and drank heartily.

We had to watch one of my friends' cunning stunts video which was old and crackly.

... and then my new crisp DVD comes in the post this morning :(

'tis a good dvd, not as good as live **** (in my god-like opinion), but good none the less.

What I watched (they had to go after the first 5 songs or so) didn't seem as good as the S&M DVD, though that might have had something to do with the aforementioned issues.

I'll see when I watch it later.

I can't judge about the Live **** thing. The only part I've seen is the drum off between James and Lars (which is great).

'One' has four solos, the intro, the classical, the main, and that duet-soloing Hetfield and Hammett do. I would choose the clean, album sound over their live playing. Just me.

I think James sings great in pretty much all of his songs. But his studio voice is much rougher (if that's a word) than live..I prefer the studio voice better.

Very true, he uses plastic nibbed sticks in kill em all, and its the ride with the tip of the stick, wheras in St anger, he uses his custom a-head sticks and hits the side of the ride, with the middle of his stick creating a washy sound :)

Yeah I agree. He should use it more with the tip of his drumsticks instead of hitting the ride cymbal with the stick part, because when he does it with the tip of his drum sticks it sounds awesome.
