Lots say RTL is their favorite album. but no one puts all their albums in order

If only they could've managed to keep The Unforgiven and Fade to Black in there. They had to cut them out since they couldn't write decent orchestra parts for it. Still, I think Call of Ktulu and Battery sound infinitesmal amounts better than the originals in this concert.

Some parts of S&M were good, like One, Master of Puppets, Nothing Else Matters, No Leaf Clover, Battery, and Fuel. But I think the orchestra overdid it a little bit. Half the time, I can barely here the guitars.

More atmosphere, more orchestrated parts instead of them just playing the same thing as metallica is all the time. If your going to take that much time to get an orchestra and have them learn all these songs, then at least use them in a better way instead of filler.

I love S&M, i dont know why everybody else ive talked to doesnt like it. Its a musical masterpiece in my eyes. I too wish there were some other songs added to the list but its ok. I think where the ochestra stood out the most was on Battery, Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, MoP (especially the slow solo part), and OMG -Human probably has the coolest intro i've ever heard...love that song.

holy crap, what was it, ~10 pages in 3 days?? This threads on a roll.

But ya, i've been playing guitar for 10 months (6 months with an amp) and these are the 'tallica songs i have gotten down on my guitar with the help of the internet and thats all. I've never taken a single lesson in my life, and i don't plan to. I play with a BC Rich Warlock, and a Marshall amp, so i produce a relativley good sound from it.

This is the list. X/4= percentage i've learned.

Call of Ktulu 3/4- Solo is very tricky, so i don't count the solo yet.
MoP 4/4- Naturally it was the first song i tried to learn.
Blackened 3/4- This song is fun to play, but so hard. The solo just makes my hands hurt.
Dyers Eve 2/4- No way im getting the solo any time soon.
Fade to Black 4/4- Naturally.
One 4/4- Easiest song to learn + solo.
Welcome Home (Sanatarium) 4/4- relativley easy. Solo has its moments though.
Enter Sandman 3/4- I haven't learned solo yet, mainly because i don't have a tremolo bar/whammy
Unforgiven 4/4- Oldie but goldie
Nothing Else Matters 4/4- Sounds nice.
Am I evil 2/4- The songs good, but I never got around to finishing it.
For Whom The Bell Tolls 4/4- This song maybe easy, but its the funnest to play.
Ride the Lightning 2/4- Lots left to learn from this classic
Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) 4/4- I play it on guitar, sounds ok.
Fight Fire with Fire 2/4- Never really made an attempt to polish it off or to learn the solo.
To Live is to Die 1/4- I'll start soon.

I can play very choppy performances of these songs (never perfect, theres always some mistakes, and it pisses the hell out of me) and I'm wondering what else I should learn. I'm still relatively beginner but I want a good sounding song...

Is anybody else not looking forward to the next album as it will be the first time Rob Trujilo will play on an album with them. He's been well broken in with the Summer Sanitarium tour and the world tour afterwords.
Given that he's a finger player and Metallica sound awesome live nowadays with him onstage and that they're fired up by his presence in the band it can only be a good thing.
The bass solo I saw Rob trujilo play in Dublin in June last year was incredible, it sounded like an earth quake going through the big outdoor venue, all slapped and tapped ending in a little bit of the bass solo from orion. Pure Class!!

Metallica never said they were always going to play thrash, James Hetfield has said since day one they didnt want to be thrash metal.

I never knew that. What does metallica want to play then? because they only changed their style because bob **** made suggestions on how to get more money. Metallica have clearly stated they'd stay true and never sell out.

Metallica wanted/wants to play Metallica... thats it, thats their genre of music and the answer you will get off Hetfield and co.

I dont think they ever did state that, nor do they believe themselves to ever have sold out...

The only thing i've heard that they said they were never gonna do was make a video, which is a pretty stupid thing to say

At the time it wasn't stupid at all, all the pop acts were doing it and metalheads didn't want to be a part of anything pop.
It doesn't matter so much now though because even a misanthropic band like darkthrone have talked about making a video. (either fenriz or nocturno culto said this during an interview) That if they were to make one it'd be minimal and grim.

DisposableHeroes
01-05-2005, 11:16 AM
you have a good point there on the video thing, but as for the Bob Rock thing...well for me its like he says: "anyone whos a proper Metallica fan would know i would not be able to force anything on those guys"(something along those lines anyway) The most Rock probably did was suggest ideas, which is what producers do, they get the full potential out of the band. And produce of course

Fernandes: No problem

So, even if I think St. Anger sucks......that will label me as a "n00b" forever more? I might as well go for that tattoo now.

Please dont call me a n00b and Pwn me. I cannot take the agony, how will I explain when I have grandchildren?

*agrees that Metallica are better overall*

I didn't call anyone a noob for not liking st anger, I didn't try and pwn you.
I'm sure your grandchildren will understand why I didn't.

I just try to see the things exactly as they are.

a better statement would be:" I try to see things exactly as they are to me". Things appear differently to different people and it helps to be tollerant of this fact.

he said this ....*no sir.

You failed the n00b test - you are a n00b/newbie.*

Or have my powers of Columbo like reasoning failed me?

I shall explain the n00b test to you.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with whether you like St. Anger or not

and you missed St. Anger of your list :p
(see if he can pass the n00b test)

Here the ":p" indicates a joke
If a serious response along the line of:
If you like any Song of St Anger you dont know music. Even the newbies in my country play better songs.

is given then, clearly the joke has not been recognised and thus he is a n00b.

The general idea behind this being that pretty much all people dislike St. Anger (and thus aren't going to think there are any good songs on it)

I like Frantic, Dirty Window, St.Anger, Invisible Kid and Unnamed Feeling. So? That means I don't know music????

Ok, let's do this one: You give me link to bandpages of newbies in your country and if I like their songs more that those I listed, I'll admit that you zwned me. deal jacka$$???

Don't feel bad, he'll cope.

As for the Avatar, find an Avatar, right-click, then click properties. Copy the URL and paste it in the blank provided.

Call of Ktulu, good choice.

I don't think the Master of Puppets solo is that hard to play. Aside from that bit where Kirk fell off the **** Fretboard...it's a solo that sounds impressive but isn't too difficult to play.
