i don't think having bob would have been so bad..but they got to used to him and started letting him influence them to much, unlike with flemming rasmussen. it's irritating.

Its possible Metallica could have been better than they are now. Or worse, there's no way to know. All my fav albums were recorded with cliff though

i know that this is kind of a smart a** comment but.......people say that metallica lost it when they cut their hair. well kirk has pretty long hair down to his shoulders(i think) or around there. and rob has long enough hair for himself, lars, and james. haha ya that was pretty smarta** like. sorry. oh and on the side note i LOVE load and re-load two great albums
Yeah, it was kind of smart as.s. But the only reason that, I think, Kirk didn't or won't cut his hair, is because he is almost going bald on the top of his head:amaze: ! Which is why he wears that cowboy hat now. I wonder if his days are winding down :upset: , or if his baldness is hereditary?

Yup! He was on Mtv2 along with all of the others talking about the some kind of monster movie. And they would show clips of the movie every once in a while, and in one scene Kirk had his hat off and if you look kinda close, not that close, you will notice that he is loosing alot of hair. :upset:
(Mtv1 sucks IMO, all they play is gay rap music, then they try to say that they still play rock and end up showing some video of some guy going,"I'm not a perfect peerrson! I never ment to po.o po.o on you!" hahahaha)

There sell-outs to there music genre! They say that they are Punk, but they are just disscracing the genre by every song that they make. They are walking around town with fuc.king spinners hanging from there necklace and wearing throw backs :amaze: ! I mean what the he.ll were they smoking (PROBABLY SOMETHING WAY TO STRONG FOR EM, KOOLS) when they decided to brand themselves as punk. I'm not a big Punk fan, but I know what Punk is. And I wouldn't be in the least bit supprised if they ended up cutting a deal with bad boy records. They are a discrace to all music. Avrille Livinge(sp?) is more punk, if at all, then all of those guys put together.

I think you need to be updated on what is emo.
You said that you were in a band, work in a record store and listen to REAL metal every day. I didn't realize that your opinion was more important than mine. Uh Oh he works in a record store, he must know everything. My friend works in a record store too and I know more than him. I'm in a band and I listen to all sorts of metal and music everyday also.If you work in a record store you should know the difference between emo and metal.
PS Children of Bodom aren't Heavy/Thrash Metal, they are more of a Power/Black Metal with hints of Death. So stop comparing the two.

My thoughts exactly. With solos, Standard tuning, and better drums you've got old school Metallica. And I hope on the last album they make, the last track is like an opposite to "Hit the Lights", and is their closing track. Not that I'm looking forward to the end of their career or anything.

2 things come to mind for justifying Justice's underrating. 1) Newsted's first Album, so a change in bass sound, and 2) the bass is really hard to hear. The whole album is full of high-treble, but it just sounds so good...

I mostly hear the old songs like:

Harvester of Sorrow
Sanitarium
Unforgiven 2

yeah my guess, theyl take a few from each album:
kill em all:hit the lights, seek and destroy
lightning:for whom the bell tolls, fade to black, creeping death, maybe ktulu
puppets:battery, master of puppets, maybe orion
justice:blackened, one, harevestor of sorrow
black:enter sandman, sad but true, nothing else matters.
load:king nothing, until it sleeps
reload:fuel, memory remains
garage:whiskey in the jar, last caress
st anger:frantic, st anger, some kind of monster
theyd be best off to do 2 volumes, one with the early years, one with the 90s and st anger.

Once you knew both songs well?

oh and im tired of this(which people have said many times, hey history always repeats itself).to be honest i dont know why people think metallica sucks, i really dont. but now that they've come out wtih a movie and soon to be a vedio game, people think they're doin this for more money. well put yourself in their shoes. you've done everything that a band can possibly do, which is, sell over millions of copies on everyone of your albums and get awards up your *ss for having reached an incrediable milestone that not a lot of other bands can say that they've done that before. soo..what else is there to do. maybe they wanted to make a movie to see what went wrong wtih them these last two years and they felt like maken a movie. and maybe they thought it would be cool to have their own vedio game. i doubt that they're doing this for money(yeah its nice to get more money) but dont you think that they could be doing this uuhh hmm maybe because they can.
poor or rich i've always wanted my own movie and vedio game, it'd be awesome. even if they did suck.

Newbie talking out of his rear
Anyways, I was talking to a friend about Metallica a week ago. He said the whole ICON thing to him was nothing but a big joke. I have to agree with him because I mean, why would KoRn, Avril, Sum 41, Limp Bizkit, and some other dudes really give rat's *** about Metallica is what he asked. He even told me that Iann Robinson felt that this was nothing but a big corporate joke, and I do have to agree with them both. If Metallica was going to be honored, they should've let Uranium do it for them, not MTV.
Then again, why would Juliya give a ****?
I don't know but I do have to agree with my friend because I didn't seem to really enjoy ICON that much. It was interesting to learn about the band but the performances we're just flat out not impressive. In my honest opinion, they should've gotten real metal bands to pay tribute to them.
Hence, I think Uranium could've done a better job with that. Then again I am just stating my opinion. To Each His/Her own.

i think most these bands should've played the solos, i can play a lot of them, enter sandman, sanitarium...... it just goes to show you the lack of musicianship a lot of these bands guitarists have

I think some of them could have pulled them off. They had a time restriction and this is MTV we are talking about, so the solos were cut.

Lol, Snoop Dogg's minute or so of Sad But True.
Avril Lavigne has killed 'Fuel', everytime I listen to it, it always reminds me of her performance at Icon. Stupid punk-wannabe bitch

He also wrote some of Ride The Lightning's title track, which would explain the awesomeness of the guitar solo. :thumb:

Due to the recent influx of idiot threads regarding Metallica here is the OFFICIAL Metallica thread. Please post EVERYTHING Metallica related in this thread and DO NOT make any additional threads regarding Metallica.
Thankyou.
Thx for this thread, now we are talking about GOOD band, and I think that Metallica deserves one thread....It would be great that we would talk about this band only inside of this thread, yea?

Yeah that was really bad. Skipped all of the solos cause the gay couldn't play them. It was really sad, they all really overamped the parts that were easy to play.
Plus the vocals sounded like crap.
Metallica must of been either laughing or crying after that.

Sum 41 did so awesome considering the level of music they usualy make! I was so happy to see them on! Along with Korn...becasue I think they really gave feeling to "One" unlike the other acts that night. The worst one for me was Snoop....I mean c`mon! How could anyone butcher Sad But True..jeez...Avril pretty much sucked...but I was just glad to see a female cover them..even if it had to be her..
The comedian was just about the best live part that night....so awesome!

I never did get to see MTV iCon. I was so pissed. But i did see clips. I thought they couldve covered better songs and picked better bands to cover the songs. But when Metallica got up on stage and played that lil Medley of Hit the Lights, Enter Sandman, Blackened, Creeping Death, and Battery. It was all good.
Does anyone have the Live Sh!t CD. I saw a thing for 50 dollars. Is there just an album?
