Lars. Because he has strong hands and he is...uhh...very active. He is also like a duracell-rabbit. Kirk is to calm.

Seen as how you're so knowledgable, tell us a good band, to put our minds at ease.
try tool, incubus, sublime, or any other band that knows how to create music worth listening to.
and, "Seen as how you're so knowledgable," you'd think you'd be able to spell a little better than a third grader.

I agree with you about tool, not so much incubus and sublime, but that's beside the point. It's not for you to decide what's worth listening to. It would be nice for you to explain your definition of worth listening to as well. You know, it's been my personal experience that anybody who professes to hate Metallica and say they are crap, are never able to give a valid reason of why they are supposedly crap. They can only ever say "Oh, cos they suck......" I could give you more than a hundred reasons why Metallica rock!!!
1: Hit The Lights
2:Four Horsemen
3:Motorbreath
...................................and so on up until
???:Purify
???:All Within My Hands
You get the point.
I resopect those of us who have different musical tastes than me, and thos who choose to dislike Metallica are just as entitled to their opinion as I am mine. All I ask is that Metallica are given their due as one of, if not the, most influential bands in the world today.

I kind of regret not going to see this now, but oh well. From Blabbermouth:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Virtual Festivals reports: "Rock history was made today as METALLICA seized triumph from the jaws of disaster, after drummer Lars Ulrich was hospitalised with a mystery ailment, on the day of their headline performance at the second day of the Download Festival.
"Whereas lesser bands would fold in the face of such adversity, METALLICA were not going to let this little setback spoil the party.
"A frantic backstage call for arms (and sticks) rallied an impressive contingent of troops from other artists on today's line-up, all ready and willing to do their bit for the 'TALLICA, and a secret spur-of-the-moment rehearsal/audition was held in the band's dressing room to decide a set-list!
"The crowd were not informed of the crisis unfolding backstage, and patience was beginning to wear thin after the band had failed to appear, more than an hour after their due time, evoking the festive chant of 'You're ****!'
"At around 10pm, the 'Ecstacy of Gold' intro music kicked in, and the boos became frenzied cheers. These soon faded, as the three emerging band members walked solemnly to the front of the stage. Singer James Hetfield was quick to get to the point.
" 'We would like to apologise for being so late to start, but only three of us made it down here to Donington today. Unfortunately our drummer, Lars, is in hospital. We don't know what's wrong, but we wish him all the best. Some friends of ours are gonna help us out, so we're going to make rock history tonight!'
"First in the hot seat was SLAYER's Dave Lombardo, much to the crowd's obvious delight, as the band kicked off with an apprehensive 'Battery', and just about pulled it off, with a lot of nodding from Hetfield and bassist Rob Trujillo. Next up was SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison, and then something magical happened. Surging into 'For Whom the Bell Tolls', the remaining band members were unable to contain their smiles as it quickly became apparent that the small, demure figure behind the kit was not so much their salvation, as their hero of the day.
"As his confidence grew, Jodison began to add his own flavour, improvising thundering fills over 'Creeping Death' and 'Seek and Destroy', much to the glee of beaming guitarist Kirk Hammett. After a brief and not-entirely-successful attempt by drum tech Flemming to cover on a ropey 'Fade to Black', plans to bring on LIFE OF AGONY's Sal Abruscato and bring back Lombardo and Flemming were swiftly aborted. METALLICA had found their drummer for the night!
"After what will long be remembered as a truly legendary performance, a clearly shell-shocked Jordison staggered off-stage to an emotional reunion with his unmasked SLIPKNOT bandmates, proclaiming 'You just made rock history, dude!' He just did."

okey, I'll explain it.
in 1984 they (metallica) recorded some cover songs on a cd called GARAGE DAYS REVISITED. It was two songs, am I evil and blitzkrieg. In 1987 they recorded another cover cd, called GARAGE DAYS RE-REVISITED. It was 5 songs. When Metallica decided to give out GARAGE INC they recorded some new cover songs. These songs are on cd 1. On cd 2 they have put the old recordings from GARAGE DAYS REVISITED and GARAGE DAYS RE-REVISITED, and they added some b-sides from their early singles, like creeping death. Wolah, GARAGE INC was made.

St. Anger was easily their worst album. They have to put something good together for them to make up for that. The old days were awesome. Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning were both exeptional albums.

S+M ? - love it, really added to some of the songs, Call of the Ktulu is even more godlike, 'roam is good too and the orchaestra really added to the first half of One.
I was surprised by Sad But True - they pulled that one off well.
As a whole the band were on top form and played some great music.

What do you think Metallica's new album will be like, if they come out with one, will they come out with another one??
i think if metallica comes out with a new album, IT IS GOING TO SUCK BALLS. st. anger has got to be the worst album ever. i hate dissing metallica because the f***ing rock and are the greatest band ever, but another album in pushing the limits.

The only reason they don'e make another KeA, RtL, or MoP, is because they don't want to work backwards. That magic already happened when it did. They're just moving forward now and if another one happens to come out of their heads that's great but not likey. That was the era. James said they won't purposfully do that they don't like looking at the past, only forward.

good point, but whether you agree or disagree, they were looking foreward before st. anger too, and it sucked. so it might be better if they just played some of their older stuff again and make a couple of new cds

I reckon if they're gonna make an album they should split up first and make some decent completely different ones, that's the only way they'll get out of a rut like that

It would appear that The -OFFICIAL- Metallica thread is being overrun by large numbers of annoying, pointless n00bs sprouting naught but over-worn clichés and anachronistic opinions.
Government experts however predict this trend to continue.
Moreover their are as yet unfounded rumours that some members of the thread leadership are turning a blind eye in the hope of overtaking the old and esteemed "Any other death Heads?" thread in terms of posts. This awaits conformation.

its mostly a collection of singles, I believe, lots of them are really awesome. Am I evil, Astronomy, Whiskey in the Jar, Turn the Page, Loverman... whatever, it'd take me forever to list them all. Yeah, definitely worth getting.
It's covers not singles.
