^i congratulate you. now PI$$ OFF !

------------------------------------------------------------------

has any one here heard the Mechanix? not the megadeth song, the demo Metallica released in 1982 with mustaine. it's an awesome song actually. it's much better than the four horsemen and megadeth-mechanix. James' voice reminds me a voice of 14 y.o teen. but very beautiful. it's a fan musthave !

if you have Kazaa, search for Motorhead. and find a song Motorhead - Mechanix, or Motorhead - the four Horsemen. its approximately 1900KB.

I just downloaded the version your talking about. James sounds like a 10 year old boy! I can't believe they could play this stuff when they were so young though. It's amazing.

If Rob were to quit or something happened that stopped him from being a musician, do you reckon Jason Newsted would ever return or do you think Metallica would get a new bassist altogether?

Jason never really seemed to fit in with the band when he was in Metallica, so I doubt he'd return. They'd probably just find a new bassist.

QUESTION TIME: What do u think Metallica's next cd (if there is one) will be like? will it follow St.anger? be like the Loads? or will be they finally listen to the fans and try some new fast thrash stuff? I Hope Kirk brings back the sick solo's

I'm starting to wonder if there are any Metallica fans who noticed that St. Anger is good. Why? There is nothing else new out that is any better...well except maybe Maiden's Dance of Dead and Iced Earth's The Glorious Burden. The rest of the new stuff that has come out lately is all whiney and dealing with how "my girlfriend dumped me so now my life is emotionally unfulfilling." Or it is filled with rap....Linkin Park. All of this new lack of talent signals the decline of rock lyric writng talent and solos. But I digress, to sum it up Metallica is still the best thing going!

Oh And Hetfield might be a little rusty since he got out of rehab.

your english is fine(except you left off your last word). I think what people are doing is they hear a little bit of metallica and decide they know enough to judge. then they find out that their original bass player died and they went from being speed metal to metal, so then they are just like, "oh those other albums suck, i am a hardcore guy and i only like metallica old stuff"

there, nuff said

Metallica are not the greatest band in the world...but they certainly are one of the greatest ever...i cant imagine a world without them...i dont think any specific member of the band himself is beyond excellence...i think the secret behind their excellent music is that they are/were perfect for each other...but alone they are not as great

i love james lyrics, those about alchohol, about drugs, those with religious references, those w/ political references.....they just kick so much a**!st. anger has good lyrics too but very repetitive.the music may be numetal(though i don't think so) but at least he ain't talking about being molsted by his father but it could be worst it could be limp bizkit like lyrics "oh she left me/ oh i hate her/why am i alone?" ahhhhh SUTH UP! but make no mistakes i do like numetal and i do like limp bizkit(their first 2 records)the others just get annoying after a while...so anyway 'tallica lyrics rule \m/

There are a few sucky songs, on garage inc and on st anger... or so I think :< And no I'm not saying these album suck ;p but previous were still better... Wait, Am I evil was on garage inc.. Metallicas best songs are about destroying things.

Hit the the lights: Destroying stuff at a concert
Metal Militia: Destroying Stuff
All the rest of the KEA songs: Destroying stuff
Fight Fire: Destroying Stuff with nukes
Damage Inc: Not really sure, but probably destroying stuff

Dyers Eve: Aw man, shi.tty whining mallcore lyrics. Bada.ss song though.

I don't know, their latest live records seemed rather awesome to me. If they can do so well live, I'm sure they can manage to scrap some more, and new, cool sounding together. Besides, I don't know why a lot of people don't like St. Anger, but imo that album had a lot of pretty songs, even though they were rather.. different from older Metallica...

 Not another secret Metallica non-fan! :p

Let me clear up what I said - I don't actually own Kill 'Em All, but what I've heard off it - Motorbreath, Anesthesia, Seek and Destroy - Aren't the best Metallica songs. They got much better with their next 3 albums

Kill Em All would probably grow on me if I actually had it, thats what normally happens

bball_1523
05-29-2004, 12:45 PM
Kill 'Em All has that thrash feel to it, but the drumming is not that good compared to their next 3 albums. I think the thing that turns people off from this album is the 'recording quality.'

Most of the songs are pure thrash which is awesome, but I think their next three albums just have a lot more flavor of metal, to me.

Squirrel_h2x
05-29-2004, 12:55 PM
I think a hefty chunk of Kill' is more speed metal than thrash.

Just my 2 cents.

I think better than St. & Load-Reload, but worse than Black Album. Probably more melodic and less nu-metal (we hope).
HerooftheDay: James Hetfield was born and raised a Christian Scientist. Don't let the name fool ya it's got nothin to do with science. Christian Scientists reject modern medicine as they believe in god's power to heal. "The God That Failed" is about James mother, who died when James was about 17 (the same time James started drinking heavily). She had cancer and refused treatment because of her religion. James spent most of his time after that as an athiest/agnostic because he felt disullusioned at his religion. "Until it Sleeps" is also about James dealings with Christian Science. When entered rehab for his drinking problems, he was reintroduced to Christianity, as the 12-step program places heavy emphasis on this. He's probably not a Christian scientist anymore, but more likely a Baptist/Methodist or something like that.

what member of Metallica couldnt they afford to lose....i think they cant lose Lars.in one of the SKOM movie preview, lars said he was prepared for the worse and he wouldnt be surprised if hetfeild quite(note that this was two years ago when james was in rehab)..so maybe metallica could go on with metallica without james(but thats just too hard to imagine).but i really think the band would break up if Lars were to leave. So who do u think they cant lose in the band?

From a while back - the best outro for me it the Call of Ktulu.

It just hits me everytime, the chords picked slower and slower and on hte last chord how he strums it one last time then the drums begin to roll and the tension builds the wham!, the distortion kicks back in the all of a sudden theres that quick slide and it's all over...

It's just such a contrast, its so effective.

Rob seems like a better and more active bass player than Newsted, but not as good as Burton was. On the St. Anger DVD Rob had a pretty good grove with the band, and I'll think he'll do good for Metallica's next album :) .

hey i know this has nothing to do with metallica(well we could make it be maybe)but im in a band thats just startin out how should we start makin things happen?should we start with a riff and work around it or what?i mean we have pretty good skillz and stuff we jsut cant get started to well.plz reply me and the boys would apprieciate it.

In my band either the guitarist writes a riff and me and the bassist add to it, then we go and write vocals, then shift it all around till it all fits, or the bassist will make a riff or an intro or something, which he and I will work on together as a rythm section, and when that is locked down the guitarist and the bassist will work out their parts.
The first way gives us heavier songs, and is faster to write, the second gives us more deph and emotion, but it takes a lot of patience getting everyitng perfect. This is probably down to our own individual styles though.
Someone on here said that Metallica (at least on the Black Album) start with a riff, build it up with drums and bass and rythm/lead guitars, then work out the vocal notes and od a few run throughs with James just singing random syyables to the right tune to check it sounds good, before they go off and rite their lyrics.
Whatever you do you should try a few different methods and find one which suits your preference. In my band we used to start with lyrics first, then one day the guitarist wrote the guitars to a set of lyrics before the practise and we all added to them. We go music first now, as we find it a lot easier.

any one ever watch the song "one" music video and get annoyed by the people in the back ground talking over such an awesome song or do you think it adds to the song? I kinda feel a little of both

I think it adds enourmously to the intensity and mood of the song.

i liked metallica's older stuff better than there new (who doesn't?), but my favorite song out of all would be master of puppets.

i like how it goes from there normal stuff in that song, to nice and soft and slow, then to unique solo's

i also like enter sandman, its a preety well balanced song.

lets try to keep this thread alive

orion! a power demonstration! noone beside or above! a perfectly balanced instrumental between heavy metal chords and almost classical-pieces of beautiful guitar play! love it! cant get enough! anyone wanna argue?

-there are only 6 heavy metal chords.
-the song is boring as hell
-the song is too melodic
-the solos are boring
-there's only one good riff, the second one
-metallica instrumentals are all boring as hell :)

I don't know where you heard that SkoM was a romance... you definately need some more reliable sources. Some Kind of Monster is a documentary of the blood, sweat, & tears that went into the making of St. Anger, (I think it's a great album, unlike alot of people) and shows alot of the bad parts of the band you've probably never seen (but need to see). But enough of my babble... just pick up the issue of Guitar World with em' on the cover and you can get the real story.

Hey guys, how good of a singer is Kirk Hammett? I'm must wondering. My guess guess is he's not too good. What do you guys think?

06-01-2004, 01:37 PM
I've heard him sing a few times, it's really not that bad. I think now that Jason's gone he's taken to singing a little.

Like I said, it's not that bad, but it's definately not great, just one more reason to miss Newsted. :p

I actually listened to Ride The Lightning the whole way through without skipping Trapped Under Ice and Escape like I normally do.

I have thus come to the conclusion: TUI Is the worst song on the album and that Escape is quite a good song trapped behind some cheesy riffs (and the solo's not bad either)

Also further thought in my mind's Metallica related ramblings; following the remixing/remastering of several Megadeth albums, wouldn't it be great if they redid AJFA. With improved production it would most certainly be their best album.

My fav Metallica guitar is James' ESP flying-V w/red hot rod flames or his ESP explorer w/black diamond plate. And to the guy who said he had never seen James playing with a black ESP: He used black ESP's during the black album tour and I think he still uses some these guitars at show.
