This is one song we've got, took three hours in the studio so it ended up being the only song we could record. Tell me wat ya think, any criticism helps (but dont go too hard on us we're only 14).

You should have put this in the Audio Arena.
Will edit after I listen.
EDIT: There are a few spots where you seem to just drop out of the picture and come back slow before picking the tempo back up, there are a few other spots where the tempo doesn't stick and I'd find a new vocalist, but it sounds good other than that.
Good job.
EDIT #2: By the way, your soundclick page claims that as an original, but it sounds a lot like an Ozzy/Sabbath cover. In fact, the name of the song is on the tip of my tongue but it's just not coming to me.

I don't much like it, your singer tries too much to sound like ozzy, quality of sound is great though

everything else sounded good, the beginning with the guitar overdrive kind of thing was annoying and long

I wasn't listening really close, but it sounded pretty good, except the tempo seemed to speed up and slow down quite a bit at some parts...

Ugh...
I'm sorry, but on the second bar you played you were out with your first one... which was a lead-in...
The singer... ugh...
That solo... came in horribly, wasn't bad in the middle... but still overall ugh...
I'm sorry, but... ugh...

Great quality, the guitar solo was pretty good. Same with sound of the drums. (since you've been getting a bunch of crap from people i won't mention it)

Didn't really like that solo...
The entrance was so mind-numbingly clunky.

LOL the guitarist is sitting rite here and he agrees with you and wants to re-do it but that costs money.

The base of the solo was pretty good, but like I said... that entrance was pretty clunky.

Thanks alot for all the comments guys,I play bass in this band and i really apreciate the comments, its always good to get some honest feedback. And yeah, all those little imperfections mentioned i was aware of,but we were nearing the end of our time in the studio, and we didnt have the cash for more time,so we just had to live with those things at that point. But hopefully in the future we'll have a chance to re-record and fix all those imperfections. But yes, thanks for all the comments, they are very much apreciated.:thumb:

The only way you could fix the tempo problems would be to re-record the song. Try to use a click next time though, Your song stays the same temp the whole time - except for the fact that it sways around a lot.
You guys sound like you are trying to rip off Sabbath a lot. Don't get me wrong, I love Sabbath... but seriously, find your own sound --- and for the love of god don't try to sing like Ozzy. Please...
The solo wasn't perfect, but I dug the Imoni feel to it, try laying down a few other takes and see what you can come up with.

Ya i kno but the whole money thing again and we werent trying to rip off sabbath but i geuss it sounds a little to similar to our heavy metal fore-fathers. Tanks for listening.
p.s. the guitarist hates his solo too

sounds not bad, I didnt like the singers voice, thats my biggest gripe
the guitar riff sounds very similar to lots of zack wilde (I think thats his name, might've misspelled it) ones
IMO I found the drumming during the guitar solo very repetetive, it wasnt a smooth beat that led cleanly from the end to the beginning when it repeats, but thats just my opinion

It wasn't bad at all. From the aforementioned I'm sure you know what to work on, but keep it going, you've got some good potential.

That's a Black Sabbath rip-off, the vocal line is exactly the same as in WarPigs, but you probably heard that already.
There are some ****ups in the drum part, the abrupt tempo change in the beginning is quite annoying - how could you not notice that?
Some fills are sloppy, you should also work on that
I agree with the solo part, too long, too boring; try to spice it up, follow the lead figure or throw in some tasty fills, there shouldn't be a solo just for the sake of it, it's meant to be a climax in the song.
Besides the bashing, it is a cool rock tune; just work on some parts and it will rock quite hard :)

Yeah, it definetly sounds like a Sabbath rip off. Reminded me alot of Snowblind.
Aside from that, it was a decent recording. Your guitarist sounds pretty good. I gotta agree with people about your singer though. I think he needs to find his own voice. Your drumming was ok though. There were a few parts you should probably re-record, but overall it was pretty nice.
Bonham#1!
02-17-2006, 08:26 AM
yah thanks you. Snowblind is a lot slower i think and we want to re-record yes. We all totally agree that our singer should as you put it find his own voice and to stop trying to sound like ozzy and axl Rose. Thanks again
can i just say you're taking a lot of this critisism really well!
a lot of people storm about and moan. good job :)

Critisism?
You should learn to take it.
I have, and ya know what? It's made me a better drummer and pianist (and video game player :chug: ).

That's a good attitude :thumb:
It was quite humiliating when i went into studio the first time, the guy who recorded us told me i played an "anti-groove" in one of our songs and shouldn't think about the money when i hit my cymbals... it was a great learning experience :)

Yeah man, I admire you for how well you're taking criticism. That's very important for improvement. Most people get on the defensive and don't listen. If you keep your attitude, I bet you guys will be really good in no time. Not that you're not good now...but the level of improvment will be phenomenal.

nice guitar sounds and drum sounds i thought they were nice
but ur singer really annoyed me he sounded like he was dying and as posted b4 he really did try too hard to sound like ozzy.
But other then that u sounded cool. :thumb: Just dont get offended when i say.. get a new singer

They are only 14... The vocalist probably hasn't devoloped his voice to its potential yet. In time and with practice he will be able to develop it more. The song sounds pretty good. Use a metronome during practice, and remember to subdivide also, they are key to becoming good at time keeping.
