Drink a pint beforehand, I recommend it ;)

It really does make you less paranoid of what people are thinking of you

I DON'T recommend getting slaughtered and drinking so much as to leave you incapable of drumming

^Totally, a beer or two before going on stage will help calm you down.

Lucky drinking age people..

I'm one year behind, I got served, I don't think every bar / club / pub sticks to asking for ID, only the ****ing annoying ones

You cannot look 18 as a 14 year old... especially short.

I bet Joey still gets asked for his ID...

I'm 17, and I've been served at bars. Then again, alot of the time I have a full beard, and if not that, side burns and a goatee.

I personally wouldn't suggest alcohol at your FIRST gig. I'd personally want to be as aware as possible-it's probably better to be a little nervous than to have any impairments to rhythm, etc. I think it's more importnat that you play solidly rather than move around.

To be honest, the whole stage fright thing isn't really that bad. It screws with you the first couple times, but if you play in front of people much at all, the stage fright disappears pretty quick without alcohol.

Just imho, up to you, not saying it'll wreck your show by any means.

the legal ages here is 16 and I'm seventeen so no problems here.

my first show was when I was 6 years old so there was no drinkin there unfortunatly :P. 't was the only time I've ever been nervous before a show/gig
