Well I figured that I haven't seen a thread about drummers in a while so I figured why not make the next one good.

Just post drummers who think are underrated. Really underrated almost unknown but great. I'd say number one on my list would be Stanton Moore(Galactic, Sprung Monkey), hes amazing yet I don't see anything about him.
Another one would be Glen Sobel, he plays for Impellitteri, check out some of they're music, alot of double bass stuff and good ideas.

Discuss underrated drummers.

well, I mean, you're kind right about Joey, people beat up on him so much, yet he's not the worst drummer in the world or anything.

Anyone wondering... Simply pick up the live "Bursting out" album by jethro tull, some of the best playing you will ever hear.

Also phil collins, his stuff with early genesis and brand X is unreal!

I'm gonna say Pat Wilson from Weezer. Guy's got great groove and if you listen carefully, he throws some interesting stuff into some really simplistic songs.

I've been listening to alot of Hendrix lately. Mitch Mitchell is a really tasteful drummer. I love it when jazz-reared drummers take up the throne in rock bands. like Matt Cameron and Jimmy Chamberlin. The jazz really helps the rock sound to groove.

Oh, and Stewart Copeland doesn't seem to me getting much rep these days

definatly agree with that. Pat's a good drummer.

I would say Matt Johnson from Jeff Buckley's band. I love the stuff he came up with for jeff's album.

Longineu Parsons III.......Sucks how he's in a punk band......He would do soo much better off in a metal or a jazz enviroment. If it wasnt for him, Yellowcard would be nowhere

John Otto is extremlly underrated, well all of Limp Bizkit are.

Brian Viglione as well, he is a powerfull drummer.

Abe Cunningham of the Deftones. Hands down my favourite drummer in one of the most pioneering bands in a certain genre, yet he's not even on drummerworld.

My dad has the "Unorthodox Behaviour" (I think it's called) record by Brand X on vinyl, Phil Collins is amazing.

I agree with some of the posts up there also. Abe Cunningham, and Josh Eppard are incredible.

I think the most under rated drummer that ive heard of is Matt mcdonough because he is pretty much unknown and same with his band! Every one should get some mudvayne songs and really listen to them you will not be dissapointed!Matt mc donough is an amazing drummer it was because of him that i started to play drums!
yea and whats up the guys sayin joey jordson is a gd drummer he is apaulling and he pisses himself before a gig lol

You beat me to it. He is by far my favorite drummer. When I tell people this, most people say "who?". I've seen him play with Porcupine Tree live twice and each time was outstanding.

i'm a big fan of matt macdonough too. he's an inspiration for sure. i also think jon theodore of the mars volta is underrated, or at least not all that well known. he's a good example of a drummer who can do a lot with a small kit.

I was just watching some Phil Collins videos on drummerworld.

Bob Burns is another good, underrated drummer.

as mentioned before, phil collins is sick, really sick. i also think-
Danny Adair(sp?) from 3 doors down, and now in nickelback is really good.

i don't think Mike Wengren from disturbed gets enough credit, i really like him.

i definatly agree that Spug is underrated, i really like his stuff(and yes, i'm still calling him spug).

i also don't think brad wilk gets too much mention, he is an amazing drummer in my opinion.

i also haven't seen will calhoun mentioned on MX too much, i really dig him, Middle Man by Living Colour just blows my mind, and

Joey Kramer from Aerosmith

Yeah, I was just listening to some PT. He's pretty good.

And I say, Stewart Copeland of Sting. HE'S AWESOME!!! It's really sad that he's rarely mentioned in a drummer's sections. I'm not even a drummer and I know how good he is. I think he was a big influence on Portnoy as well.
