Getting some custom Jarrah/Maple ply drums done up.
Obviously I want to blend the hard qualities of jarrah with the warmth of maple but what should be the interior ply?
and what should be the middle plys? The outer ply is going to be ultra figured Sapelle Pomele done in satin.
Should I get the interiors laquered to brighten and make the drums more resonant/reflective?

What custom company uses Jarrah? I've never seen Jarrah used by anybody except Brady.

I certainly wouldn't laquer the inner ply.
I've seen vaseline rubbed into an inner ply, makes a suprising difference actually, much warmer sound; I like it a lot. Don't know if that's what you're looking for though.

it depends on which wood you want to have the bigest effect on the sound. the inner plys are what change the sound the most. given the above info, jarrah with vasiline rub would be best. im not sure how actual laquer would effect the sound though, im guessing something like vasinine.
