(Mods: this isn't a double post, i put this in the beginners forum by accident)

Hey guys,

I've arranged and recorded a new song today. It's called A Ballad for Doll, and is orginally by Jackie McLean. It's very 'modern', slightly atonal and there's some dissonence. It's very pretty at the same time, though.

I used bass for melody, MIDI music box to double melody, and a MIDI vibraphone for chordal accompanyment. They sounded harsh and crap, so I used some creative effects to make them a bit more natural.

Check it out, and tell me what you think.. please?!

Ha ha, I liked your tone man, fitted in just right. It was a great arrangement too, those vibes were haunting. Do you have to do stuff like this for your degree?

It's hard to say.

This kinda stuff would be mainly reserved for the composition major students, but I would be doing a minor of compostion so there will be an aspect of it in my degree.

My major is jazz/contemporary performance.

And yeah, the vibes made the dissonant chords sound the eeriest, I thought. And the music boc thing, doubling the lead, just has this disturbed kind of vibe to it.

Thanks!
