My bro got me a nice cowbell for my b-day, and i'm wondering if anyone has some cool cowbell application ideas. I'm looking for things aside from just doing ride/hat type rhythms on it.
Thanks in advance!

Gun N Roses use cowbell lots, not very creative beats though.

I found myself alternating between the cowbell and hihat a lot. For instance, first I'd play...
HH |X-x-X-x-X-x-X-x-|
SN |--O--g-g-gg-Og-g|
BD |o--o----o--o--o-|
After a few bars, I'll start accenting with the cowbell...
CB |X---X---X---X---|
HH |--x---x---x---x-|
SN |--O--g-g-gg-Og-g|
BD |o--o----o--o--o-|
Its fun to play around with. Works wonderfully with the ride and bell as well.

Pauly those are good exercises IMO. From there you can take it to different levels. Like takeing that 2nd groove and moving the right hand to the the ride every 5th beat etc.

cowbell on the left foot rocks. my pedal for it sucks though.

i have always wondered.
if you had an old hi hat stand you could mount the cowbell at the top and have a stick mounted under it so everytime you pushed your foot down it hit the stick.

Ha...I've had that sticking stuck in my head for what's felt like forever, and I just realized where I got it! Gadd tapped it out himself for me at the clinic that I went to, and ever since I've been whoring it shamelessly.

I noticed that a long time ago cause my comp is slow so i'll always restart the whole thing and i notice "istanbul agop" would appear on my screen everytime i put the thing back far enough.
Hey BB for that Joey Jordinson impression you should have worn some stupid mask.

the one thing you must remember: if at any point in a song the cowbell starts playing, IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE ENSEMBLE. NOTHING MUST OUTPLAY THE COWBELL.

I dug the Gadd coc line I thought that was pretty good. For cowbell try left foot 3/4 with the bass peart style. (bass on 1 cowbell on 2 and 3) peart doesnt use a cb but I think it would still sound good.
