i see no point in playing w/ 3 fingers, you can still go no faster than w/ 2. your still alternating 2 fingers

2: 1 2 1 2 1 2 etc...
3: 1 2 3 2 1 2 3 2 1 2 3 etc....

o well, it just dosent make sense to me

If you're playing "triplets" (or whatever it is steve harris uses all the time) it's a lot more convenient to use three fingers. Also, in other fast songs, for example the verse of New Dress by Rancid or the intro to Drunken Lullabies by Flogging Molly.

There was a lesson posted somewhere sometime ago, sure someone will look it up....

are you looking for thumb index middle like classical guitar method, or index middle ring? i use a lot of classical guitar right hand tec because it's the economy of motion. you don't have to move your hand at all, it just rest over all the strings. i know a few players that use their index middle ring and i personally never saw the point. i can play just as fast (or faster) than all of them with index middle. i dunno, it doesn't matter what i think- but if you are looking for classical guitar right hand tec it's all over the web.

Here's a lesson (I didn't read the whole of it):

And here's billy sheehan:

It'd be silly to play that fast with two fingers (even if it would be possible) when you can do it with much less effort using three.

Thanks guys. I don't really need 3 fingers I'm very fast with 2( i hate picks :) )
but playing with 3 fingers just looks cool - at least on Adam Clayton and It's Interesting.

You can play anything if you have the will.

the best way to do a 3 finger triplet is to do ring, middle, index, and repeat. I know its wierd sounding, but its the best way.

it as easy as plucking with two but including your ring finger

Think of it like a see-saw.

Two fingers would be a regular see-saw. When one goes up, the other comes down.

But there is time in between when neither side (or finger) touchs the ground or string).

So in that time, your third finger can play, therefore you can go faster.
