Has anyone played any music from the play Godspell? My school is performing that play sometime and is looking for a bass player and I might be interested, just need to hear what kind of music it is.

Playing with a musical would be fun nomatter what the music style

it would be such a good experience because you'd need to get the songs down pat. the Actors take cues from the musicians and it has to be the same EVERY time. It will make you a better player

It's late 60's early 70's rock. You should be able to get the CD. I've done Godspell 2 different times. Each time it ran for a month. It was awesome. It's along the same lines as Jesus Christ Superstar (which I also did 4 different times).

I used to play a lot of musicals. They were always great experiences. You don't usually have to deal with ego's. The Director handles that. It teaches you to really listen to what's going on.

When I did the musicals, I had to sight read music scores, not tabs or chord charts, but actual sheet music. It helped me to develop my reading skills.
