HI every one. I have been playing drums for nearly 14 years now and i am 15...and still dont know what type of solo i should stick too..usually when my band is half way through gigs they always get me to do solo's just to fill it in.but i dont know what type of solo will be the right one.
I usually start off with a snare and tom at a fast rate then go on to a travis barker tom solo...i can do solo's..but learnin different ways everyday..
Are Tom solo's the way to go? are just high rate drum rolls the way?
I put in rudiments, when i play i try to picture a song in my head and try and make it flow..
Is There anyhthing i need to Know??

are you serious?!
You're 15, and have been drumming for 14 of those 15 years?!
And on top of that, you've barely moved past travis Barker solos?!
And sorry, I don't really understand your question.

There really is no types of solos.
There is free solos and solos during a break in the song though.
I'm guessing you have a free solo so you pick the tempo, bars, and just about everything else.
I was actually gonna write up a lesson on soloing techniques but I do have one on writing a solo. You can do what Peart does, write an awesome solo and play it for the rest of your life.

There is no right way. Your way is your right way.

1. I don't believe you
2. go to and look at some solo's and come up with you own idea. there is no right/wrong way to solo.

Incorporate some licks from your favorite drummers (hopefully not including any of Barker's). Dont do that for the whole thing but pay homage to your influences.

i dont really believe you as well, i think your honestly pretty full of ****.
but the question youve gotta ask is.
are people blown away by your solo's?
if they arent. youve got another "14" years of practice.
I think at your age you should worry about being a good all around player and do some jamming. Solos shouldn't be of that much concern to you right now, you can do them once you've got everything else going.
