| havn't touched my bass in quite a while.
What are you kids doing these days?
Around the time | left there was alot of emphasis on Thumbing and Tapping, and worship of Victor Wooten.
| find that |m not as fast as | used to be, hopefully | can get up to speed again. |ve just been busy with school, work, and girlfriend.
and with no band There is little motivation to practice constantly.
What are the current bass forum fads?
Raiven

It seems to me like Jaco and fretless playing are in style again. Also, the Maxwell Murder solo has been talked about for the past few days.

Raiven: Emo isn't a big deal around here...not that I've seen, anyway. :amaze:
Schecter is the current fad, with Ibanez coming in a close second. Jaco is being revered as is fretless playing in general. Also, there's not nearly as much emphasis on speed anymore...it's mostly slapping/tapping. I'm yet to see fingerstyle highly regarded around here. :(
Nice to see you posting again, Myung.

Schecter obsession seems to be the trend du jour.
I see Schecter obsession all over this forum, yet I will never understand it. IMO, the only Schecter worth playing is the Stiletto Exotic, and even that one isn't actually worth buying.
But Myung, Double-Thumbing has been very trendy, although I've noticed a decreased fascination with the song, "Classical Thump". I imagine the DT technique itself will be popular for awhile until it becomes a standard.

yeah its an absolute value sign.
No, it's half of an absolute value sign...technically 1/3, since there's no number.
|x| <--- absolute value, where x is an integer.

well fretless and jazz are more popular than ever, as is walking bass lines. on the other side fo the spectrum there are a few really good touchstyle players that have shown themselves latly and the six string has made a re-emergance.

There's a pretty widespread Warwick club.
And modding a Jazz is pretty popular.

if i recall correctly, there was a 6 string craze for a while about eight or so months ago, where about every 3 days, there'd be somebody posting a picture of their new carvin, modulus, ibanez, or cort . . .

Holy crap, nice decals, man. :thumb: Nice to see you back in action on MX too.
Wasn't the "|" thing at first because of a broken "i" key on your keyboard, then you just started doing it because it looked cool? Or am I wrong.

That bass is beautiful. It looks much better than those atrocious basses/guitars I see (owned by local musicians) with flames painted on or stickers covering them.

I got a 6 string! I love it to bits, i used it for my first local show and it held up well. Umm, i guess the fretless is back, and i also see a lot of emphasis on songwriting on the bass again. its a nicer atmosphere now everyone isn't all about DT'ing and shizzle...
