Hey, i'm thinking of replacing the stock pickups in my cort. Anyone had any experience with diamarzio pickups? and if not could you reccomend another brand of pickups that aren't too pricey but still sound good.

DiMarzio Model J's are without a doubt my favorite pickup (not that I"ve tried EVERY pickup on the planet or anything, but these are my current fave).

Plus their customer service is absolutely top notch.

I played a Bass with Dimarzio model Js,and they were probably the best bass pickups Ive played, outside of Kubicki Pickups.

Id like to play something with a high Quality EMG P/J setup

Also, Im not the greatest with Bass pickups, but as far as their guitar pups go, they are the best; clean, even at high gain, and they are very responsive and dynamic. They also sound more organic than any other brand of pickup Ive heard or played through.

Go to the following link and click on the song called "Custom Test" for some clips of my custom Jazz bass with DiMarzio Model J's (neck in parallel, bridge in series) running through an Avalon U5

The only thing that mine lack is a bit of clarity in the neck pickup for some bedroom performance.. But they are so damn nice in the mix. The only thing that I couldn't do right is direct recording though. Build in two switches to switch from series to parallel with each pickup and you can nail a lot and I say a lot of different tones.

I like mine :)

Thanks for the help everyone, soundclips sound awesome. My cort has a pbass and a jbass style pickups, which would be the best dimarzios for the job? By the way, looking for a sort of treble-y tone but still quite versatile. I know it says the treble bass and mid of each pickup on their site but i would rather go on peoples views than a companies site designed to sell them :P.

Slight hijack.. I'm also considering buying the Model Js, but I have two J style pups in my bass. Would I benefit more from a combination of two different pups or would two Model Js sound great as well? Also, if you prefer the first option, recommend me some combinations that can give a nice full range.

Many people recommend not mixing/matching pickups as their voltage output differs, are tonally different, and can be constructed different. I would say just get a set of the Model J's.
