I went in to my local guitar store today to order a new Schecter Exotic bass only to find that it had been discontinued. It hasn't been out very long has it? Does anybody know why it was discontinued? or since it was their top-o-da-line model are they going to replace it? Or does anybody know of anywhere I can find one? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Probably because Zebrano aint all too common, or getting harder to find, so they just discontinued it. Im sure they'll bring out something else to replace it. Its a shame, because that was the only Schecter bass I found mildly attractive.

If it's true that's a shame...
I checked the Schecter website and I didn't see anything about it.

I can see no reason why Schecter would discontinue the bass, but if they did...haha to all you, I have one.

^ Yours has custom EMGs in it or something, right? I thought you said something about that yesterday...
The stock PUPs are a bit "meh" right? They're Duncan Desgined, which means they're not even "real" SDs, right?

No no, I still have the stock pickups in there. They sound fine. There is a "real" SD pickup that is modeled to fit the bass too, so I may upgrade to that at a later date, but right now I'm pretty content with the DD. They've got tons of midrange and growl.
I did alter the contour switch, though.

^ What's the contour switch do in that particular bass and what did you alter it to do? I saw the switch near the bridge but wasn't sure what it did, exactly...

The contour switch is basically wired to roll quite a bit off the mids and add a little bit of bass while compressing the high end. Pretty much your basic "slap" switch. What I did is simply reversed it from primarily cutting mids to cutting bass. The preamp is basically just wired right to the knobs and switch, so I just flipped the wires around. Completely random idea, but it has seemed to work alright.
EDIT: I've since switched them back, seeing as it was simply an experiment.
However, I do want to eventually put another effect right into the bass, as I did with my studio. I'm thinking about taking apart an EBS Bass IQ Envelope Filter and routing the thing right into the bass using the switch. I've not yet figured out how I'm going to do it, but we'll see.

I'm happy with my Schecters. :) All I want is a studio six fretted and maybe fretless.
I love my fretless so much now, it sounds amazing multi tracked and great for melodic solos. Tapping actually sounds good on it.
