^You're one in a million, mate!
Tell us what equipment you use now, blacktop, and what sort of use does it get (do you gig lots? what style of music? etc.) ?
That would help us work out some stuff.

Wow 1800 on bass, head and cab? Jeez, you might want to narrow it for us, how much you want to spend on each? What type of music you play etc.

i'll be gigging pretty regularly with it (hopefully). i play heavy rock, grunge, metal etc.etc. so i guess i'll be looking for a stong sound, nothing in the way of jazz or blues or the like. im still deciding but im looking towards get an Ashton BA400H head & BQ410 box. on the bass however i really like the Warwick Streamer STD 4D. i can get all that for $1750 AU. what do u guys reckon?

I'd pour more money into the amp and cab first. If, IF you have extra, get a good bass. This is assuming you already have a bass. I'd split it around 1400-1500 amp (head/cab), 3-400 bass. Thats just me though, and I don't know the exchange rate.

i would suggest getting a stack (avatar 410 and 115) then getting a pre/power setup. then spend the couple hundred you have left on a mim fender or something. i'd personally make amplification your first priority, especially if you gig a lot.

i can get the ashton setup for $1100 which i think is fairly decent. which leaves me $700 on a bass. but if i can get a good sounding bass for less than that i would go for it. can you suggest any? or should i go with the warwick for $700

Ashton's rigs aren't that reliable. If you're gunna go cheap, go Behringer.

http://www.avatarspeakers.com Go to bass speakers, than B410 Neo
$1050, USD
And definitely get the Warwick if you can afford it. I love Streamer Standards, myself. If you don't, the Spector Legend, Schecter Stiletto Studio, and the Fender Jazz 24 are all amazing and inexpensive.
