so me and a few friends were blazin' up the other night:chug: , one gets on drums, one throws down a beat-box and the other just straight up freestyles some retarded stuff through the pa system lol. they wanted me to "throw down some funky-*** ****" but i really was unsure of what to play, so they were like "alright no big deal thats why we got a beat-box". then it got me thinking, that would be really cool to play on bass, funky freestyle grooves that repeat themselves like blues progressions. anyone have any ideas? post'em! they can be like like 4 different sections: one main groove, a secondary groove (like an octave higher or lower for example), a turn-around point, and like maybe an ending groove. let me know some of your tabs for this idea.

well, for different sections you usually wouldn't just change octaves. a mode/key change would sound prety cool.
honestly, when ive been doing that with my friends, just a well rhythmed and spaced one note groove will do.
i think youre overthinking it. just go by feel.

the progression is Em G Am. It's a song of my band so don't get it on mtv or I'll find you and hunt you down :) I'm really not in the mood of tabbing it. It's easy and I think you can manage. There's a recording of this with more variations and a slap solo. Hope to get that online once I receive it from the venue that recorded it.

You have some of the best grooves I've ever heard. If anyone can help this dude, it's you.

Also check this out. It's about a year old from a rehearsal session, so no bad words about sloppiness

thanks a lot for the encouragement man
i don't know how to really help. its mostly on the feel and your ears. listen to what the beat asks for and just try to flow with the music. to practice this, just make some simple beats and jam for hours on them

The Message by Grandmaster Flash has a great, simple, grooving bassline.
