Hey guys.
The other day I bought a 20" Zildjan oriental china and a 16" AAX crash. After 4 days or so, I started to notice them getting a bit of a yellow substance on them. I used groove juice and it came off. Then 2 days later it came back...Does anybody know what it is and how to keep it gone longer then a few days?
Bit of a noob question...

hmmm, it could just be oxidating and that happens rather fast no matter what, just let it oxidate and clean like once a week or evry two weeks

There's also the possibility that you're using yellow painted sticks.

That's odd that you would get oxide showing up so quickly. Is there a lot or do you really have to look to see it? Does it show up mostly where you dampen the cymbals?
I love my raw ride. :thumb: Looks all grungy straight outta the box.

I wouldnt say theres a lot but there is enough that if you look at it for a few minutes you'll notice that the coloring is different then regular. It happens more along the the edge of the bell on the china and on the edge of the bow on the crash.
Where do you keep your kit?
Right now I keep it in my upstairs bonus room.

I bought the AAX used yes but I bought the Oriental new. Its weird that my 20" oriental does it but my 18" doesnt have that problem.

Hmmm thats strange, doesnt sound like a moisture issue since it's in an upstairs room... I don't know what it could be.

As long as they don't do anything inside the drum when you are replacing the head!

though it might give a funky swishing yellow water effect inside

Well all I can think is that you're frequently getting sweat on the cymbals...somehow. My AAX fades to a darker tone on one side because that's the side I always grab to dampen it, and I'm not one to clean cymbals. That doesn't explain, though, why it's on the bell of your china.

hey
yer the same thing happened when i bought my ZXT Pro cymbals
after a few days they got like sorta tarnished with yellowish mist
so i used cymbal cleaner and it came off
then the next day it was on even worse
at first i thought it was the cymbal cleaner but even on the bottom of my hats had **** on it?
I sent them to the shop i bought them at then they shipped them off to Zildjian
Zildjian said they cant do anyhting bout them so i was ****ing pissed but the shop i bought them off gave me a new set??
