I wasn't totally sure it was possible but it is, and im learning how....its so hard
I first watched a video by a (thomas rabb) i believe, I cant quite remember, but he showed the technique to doing it so ive been practicing, I can get it going but at a very slow rate, and when I try bringing it up to speed it turns to crap, so this will be my new goal for now "learn to single hand roll"

That's called a fulcrum roll. Not a true one handed roll as you are using the rim of the drum as the fulcrum, instead of the fulcrum being contained within the grip.

To play a one handed roll, one of the common ways is to develop continious triple strokes on a given hand. There's a video of Chapin doing it on VicFirth.com

not many can actually do a proper single-handed roll effectively.

yeah, jonny rabb, my bad, But yes it is the fulcrum roll its not a true single handed roll

but it does look impressive
I thought about learning it as like a party trick type thing

Even with continious triple strokes, Or really fast doubles, It dosent "Seem" like a true drum roll. I think the only Real one handed roll can be accomplished with the buddy rich "push pull" technique, wich is also probably one of the hardest techniques to learn. There is a couple different ways to do this technique also...different grips. "german" "french" and another i think..?

I thought this was called a gravity roll. I can do it minamally. This would be the Rabb video. (http://www.tigerbill.com/media/Rabb2.wmv)

i think most of us didn't notice cuz we know most drummers on a last name basis so the first name isn't really as important...or maybe it's just me

Just another book to add to a library, I don't see why he can't just learn it now and get it out of the way (it really isn't that difficult..)
