Howdy All

Recently i have been rebuilding my starter bass, new paint, bridge pick ups etc
plus im going fretless. Anywho i have been quoted by a luthier at my local music shop a price between 120 - 150 dollars (Australian)

Just wondering if anybody thinks this would be too much to spend, and should i do it my self and save the money.

I can do it and not f*ck it up just that i want to save time and ensure its done by someone with experience.

Thoughts?

(BTW U.S dollars would be nearly double the amount, and in Pounds would be over double)

(yes our currency blows)

To do whole lot... a bargain, mate!

To do the defretting, if you wanted a GOOD job of it, its an alright price to consider. DIY is cheaper, but you never know how it'll turn out.

Actaully its more like 80$ american...

So your paying for what exactly? Just the service or for all the aprts as well?

Most of that is fairly simple to do yourself, apart from the painting. Painting is one of those really annoying things and i swould suggest that you at least get that done professionally.

You know what i mean with money...

But yeah thats for defret and epoxy, yet when i talked to him he seemed somewhat unsure of what i wanted so yeah, but it should be fine i guess.

And for prices on the bridge and pick ups.

Im going with a Di Marzio P + J config, passive cause i cant be bothered going to active..

Around $270 ish AUS, free installation

Leo Quan Fender Bad *** 2 Bridge with free installation and saddle filing, action height adjustment... $ 170 ish AUS

So basically im just paying for parts :)
