know how to play the beggining of this

i know how to play it, but i cant play it at that speed. i dont have my book in front of me, but i think it says taht he is holding the 12th fret with his index and tapping the 14 with both his left hand ring finger and his right hand index at a very fast speed.

i'm not sure of the exact note but my guess is
G-12h14(hit this with right hand)14p12(pull off with left hand)
this makes for very quick speed with minimal effort

Crap. I thought I wrote that "riff".

I do that same thing with the hammer-ons and pulls of two frets above another note that I'm fretting. I never saw Sheehan or anyone else do it before, so I'll take credit for that as well. Same exact pattern... it's very easy to do it at that speed too.

You just fret the 12th fret with your left index finger (or right if you're left handed like me) and then hammer on and pull off back and forth with your right index finger and your left ring finger (this is how I do it)... start with your right index finger and go back and forth.

Yeah, that's what it reminded me of when I played it. I was fretting the root of a scale and hammering on to the second of the scale while tapping other notes in the scale. I went up and down and decided to try to tap both fingers on the second. That's what I came up with.

Damn Sheehan. Why can't I be an innovator? :p
