Why the hell is American Football just called football? Think about, most of the time people are running and holding the ball. In football (soccer) you pretty much always use your feet except for headers. I think soccer should be called football.

Is the ball in soccer made of a foot? No. You sport name is also irrelevant. It's a name and nothing else.

You'll have to come to America and meet Mr and Mrs Everyman to completely understand, but long story short - we call things whatever we want, we make up words, and change spellings to accomodate the majority.

It is just the fact it is a game where you play with the ball mostly on your foot therefore it has more relevance in the name than american football has to the word football. American football is not a version of soccer (football as I call it) but a version of Rugby.

Yeah, I know, it's the superbowl, it's a big deal... but then so's the Six Nations, which is starting up, the winter olympics are on their way too, not that anyone actually cares about them... But it's easier to just use the designated forum. :)

Besides, this thread is already going off the rails. :lol:
