Alright so today i was jamming with my guitarist, playing normal fingerstyle, and then my D string breaks. Now this is the 2nd time i've broken the D string playing fingerstyle and before i broke 3 G's slapping. I was just wondering what might cause this and what would be a simple solution to it as i really dont have money to fork out strings after strings. And also could someone recommend me some good strings. These were rotosounds btw. thanks:)

Where are the strings breaking?

If they're breaking by the bridge, then you may have some burs on the saddles. Take a close look, and if you see any sharp spots on the saddles, file them down.

If they're not breaking in any particular spot, you may just need to adjust your technique.

My favorite strings, just for the record, are Rotosound 66 Swing strings.

this happened to me, just don't slap so hard. even if it breaks fingerstyle, it may be slapping htats weakening it

These were rotosound swing 66 and i loved em. They always break at the bridge and no it isnt my tech. im posotive. i think im just gonna have to put some paper under the string..

If they keep breaking at the bridge, file the saddle very carefully.

use a very fine file, otherwise you'll just make it worse.
