This game looks pretty cool in my opinion. I haven't really had much RPG experience though aside from Pokemon. So I was wondering if anyone knew if this game would be an alright first RPG? Discuss Dragon Quest.

Epic is a good word to describe the game. Big world map, and a very ambitious soundtrack. Fun battle system, and I like some of the humor they put into the game.

So would it be a good game if you don't know much about RPGs. I have played all the Zelda's if they count.

heh, there's like 5 DQVIII threads floating around, but I will help you neverless!
Yes, the game's an excellent beginning RPG. It was my first big RPG experience, and now I'm addicted to all types of RPG'S. KingofDudes summed the game up great!

Its also in the vein of old school RPG's, which I am very happy about.
Not the easiest RPG ever, plus it'll take you a ton of hours to beat the main game, then theres bonus crap to do.:thumb:
One of the best RPG's to come out in a while.:thumb:

I'm about 42 and supposedly I'm only half way through. Hero is on Level 30.:thumb:

I'm about 97 hours into it, and have beaten everything except the last battle of the hidden dungeon. It's very very addictive, and a lot of fun. Great starting RPG, not too confusing, so it's pretty friendly for people who don't have much RPG experience. Hero is level 43... you level up slowly in this game.
The only potential drawback for someone new to the genre is that it's quite a bit more difficult than most RPG's that have come out recently.
I still haven't beaten III :(

Thanks for the help guys. I think that I'm going to rent it and see if I like it. It sounds like a pretty cool game.

hmmm, I never really found the game difficult, and reviews I read said it was one of the "easier" RPG's recently released, but that didn't take away from the Gameplay at all....
Anyways, I beat the game in about 60 hours, and then I did the bonus dungeon (awesome, if you haven't done it, do it!), and after all the bonus levels my time on the game was about 65 hours.
I completed the Monsters Arena as well, but I didn't do anything with the Casinos...
